You could argue that. But you say DCL took his chance. Keane probably never did enough to get his chance. He scored 2 when he started a game. But he is very raw and rather than loan him I'd get are money back at least. But if he stays he has to do better in training and push for his spot. DCL did nothing in those covid games. Keane started one. Speaks volumes to me. But if he stays I hope he works hard get a game and starts scoring so he can't he left out of the team
I'm confused about how Kean is supposed to prove he's better than the guy who is scoring in every game without playing games. I mean you'll say training, but you aren't going to take Aubameyang out because Lacazette pops a few in at practice and the same goes here. I don't think it is entirely his fault he hasn't gotten chances and as a club we need to collectively figure out that you don't give up on young players at the first possible opportunity. A great example of that in fact is Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Well all 3 can benefit.

We paid £27 mil.

£7 mil loan for 1 year.
£20 option to buy after the loan.

( we wont have paid much of the £ 27 mil upto now the way deals are structured nowadays)

So we paid 27 mill, for basically a year loan and paid him a wage for the year.

No way we benefit mate, it would be a horrible admission of not bring able to recruit and improve one of Europe’s best talented young players.

The ambitition of our recruitment has to be more then just breaking even, even if players want out.

We definitely wont sell, unless the player goes Ballotelli, he’s low cost, high head room for development. We have a massive upside with him.

All very valid points my friend , but if its right the lad wants to go home then its best all parties move on.

He has to be given minutes and starts from now on, otherwise we have to consider moving him on from January onwards.

He needs to use his frame and be more direct, that is in large part related to confidence. He won't get anywhere with 5 minute cameos. There is a raw explosiveness in him that we have not seen, but it's there and can be utilised.

I'm not really sure what to make of him but it would be criminal if he left without at least one real crack at showing us if there is a player there or not.

I'd see his upside as being better than DCL's if an upside is there at all, and would actually be inclined to start him against Spurs and not see DCL as an automatic starter. That would be good for both Kean and DCL.

"Kean never did enough to get his chance"

"Kean scored twice in 2 games he started"

Biiiit unsure of your stance there

Its taken DCL over 70 starts and 100 appearances to return over 10 goals in a season.
Why would we not afford the same grace to Kean who's had all of 6 starts and more 5 minute cameos than anyone I can remember?

I don’t want us to sell Kean because I’d like to believe he can come good. There’s no point comparing it to the DCL situation though, it’s completely different. DCL was a cheap punt with low expectations and low wages, giving him chance to develop was always the plan. Kean was quite clearly bought to make an impact. People can pretend he wasn’t all they want but this club does not buy £27m players and pay them £50k a week On the off chance they come good after 3 years. He hasn’t done what we expected and it’s left the club with a decision to make. We’re also not the only ones who won’t be happy. He didn’t come here to make cameos, he’s supposed to be a star. He and his agent will not have been happy with last season, and if the situation doesn’t look like it’s changed then they’ll want out.

Feel bad for the kid tbh, you forget he came over as a 19 boy to a foreign country and new league, playing for a dysfunctional club full of gash players with a big price tag to live up to, you can understand how he’s not settled yet.

On top of that the few opportunities he got were 10 minute cameos stuck out on the wing at the end of games with no one within 40 yards of him. Could see him being homesick and wanting the safety blanket that is juve

If i remember correctly.

£22mil fee with £5mil in clauses.

Thats for a player with one year on his deal. He now has 4 years on his deal at £50k a week.

Italian international at 20 years old who appeared in their last 2 games.

Perhaps Pirlo likes him but in that case its going to have to be a sale for a lot more than we paid for him, £50mil minimum. Even then its daft as we could have him another season and his value wouldnt drop from the £22-27mil we paid.

Or, we look at De Ligt, Demirah, Bentacur or Kulusevski in relation to some kind of swap deal -- none of whom are likely to want to come.

Cant see this happening at all.

Every footballer round Kean age would and should be excited about being in the same team as James, if this lad ain't, bin him off now. He came with a reputation of being a prat outside football, he has enhanced that reputation, and actually looks worse than Niasse on the pitch.
