That’s certainly a fair point. I think in this case it’s probably more to do with what our style of play isn’t. Kean appears to be the type of striker who comes alive in the box, and relies on people teeing him up. From what I’ve seen his all round game isn’t great but he’s got good movement in the box and can finish. We have very little creativity in the team, our midfielders can’t pick out strikers with good through balls, we rely on getting wide and putting crosses in and our front players have to work hard chasing balls and being a nuisance because we can’t keep hold of the ball and dictate games. Silva was only ever going to play one up front and kean just wasn’t cut out to do that job. As I’ve said, you can say we shouldn’t have hired silva, you can say we should have sacked him after the first year to bring in a different style, but what you can’t really say is that kean suited the way the manager he was bought for wanted to play. It was painfully obvious from his first couple of appearances.
