Morgan Schneiderlin

He sounds like a good player from what everyone has said about him (haven't seen him play much myself), barring Davek, so I'm not opposed to signing him if we've got enough cash to address some of the other issues in the squad as well.

I think it's more that some people are saying CM should be our number one priority that I was disagreeing with. All about opinions and we all think different about the squad but hopefully we'll get him and address other areas too.

Schniederlin looks good in on youtube and same for Lookman. I'm just hoping we have a busy window.

Well personally I think a lack of an actual footballer in the middle of the park should be our main priority, after replacing Bolaise, which we already did, kinda, Lookman will add a different dimension up top. Morgs will add some much needed quality in the middle.

I mean assuming we get Morgs in, he alone wont "solve" our problems, we certainly do have other priorities, which I really, really hope are addressed.

Blah blah blah. Look mate, I'm imparting my genuine view on a player and the reason people are responding is because they KNOW this is expensive and they KNOW that we are more desperate elsewhere. I understand fans like the new arrivals but if they don't fit our priority if needs and there it seems to fit an emerging pattern of overpayment in quite ordinary players then it has to be said. If that's ok with you like?
Snide comes in for 20, James goes out for 15.
It's no big deal

Is Schneiderlin better than Barry, Davies and McCarthy?

If the answer is yes, then it can't be a bad deal.

*Gana is clearly going to start

Mourinho won't put up a fight to keep him is what you mean mate, he never did with debruyne, lukaku, Mata, and a lot of other quality players that he let go either.
Mata is still there and starting games mate. Lukaku? File under shed loads of other players bought by the lorry load by that club and never getting a chance - just being taken out of the grasp of competitors.

A Mug club. You want Everton to be ripped off because it gives you an inflated view of Moshiris importance to our development?

Bad decision making becomes a habit in all departments of a club. Remember the Geordie muppets doing that? Now look at the state of them.

Oh Everton, oh we love Everton.

And we love our Morgan Snides, oh Everton, oh we love Everton.

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON ARMY

Genuine question: is this is a situation where maybe you can get someone more influential (particularly going forward) for £30 million?

Having that extra creative spark on the pitch is such a bonus that this seems like one of the times where it makes sense to slightly stretch the budget.

He really isn't. He just drones on and on, WUMming as if his life depends on it.

Just a couple pages back he suggested bidding between £15m and £20m for Sigurdsson, on the basis that he is a better player than Schneiderlin. I agree that Sigurdsson is a great player, and should be one of our targets, but the obvious bit of Davek's wind-up on this topic is the suggestion that Sigurdsson could be got for £20m. Schneiderlin is going for around £22m, so how could a LOWER price could be appropriate for a goalscoring deadball specialist upon whom a relegation-threatened team are almost wholly dependent for their prem survival? Obviously it couldn't, but Davek loves to WUM so much he probably dabs after every banter-filled post.

Sigurdsson would cost £30m at least. He's just a couple weeks younger than Sissoko, who went for £30m, and is by far the better player. Schneiderlin is better than Sissoko, younger and will cost about £8m less. In summary: we should sign Schneiderlin ASAP at anything up to £24m; Sigurdsson would be a great pickup but is likely to cost £30m; Davek is a prize nincompoop.
I disagree.

Mata still at Chelsea mate, nope mouinho sold him if you remember.

Ahhh good spot as arsenal, spurs and others where interested in scheids then United bought him to keep a quality player out of the competitions hands, thanks for clearing that up Dave, a wise observation by you.

We have Barry, Davies, a returning Besic and Barkley to choose from. It's no crisis.

Besic isn't even in full training or close to being mate, yet your including him in selection for this month.

So basically you would start Barry, Davies, and Barkley? Correct?

And if any of those picks an injury up - cleverley to start?

I agree it might be hard covering for a month but Davies looks decent and we have Barry. I don't believe in wasting big money on a player to cover one month when we'll get better returns in the long term getting a second striker or attacking midfielder.
We wouldn't be signing Schneiderlin to cover anyone for one month. He'd be coming in to be the starter in 75%+ of our games in all competitions over the next 2.5 to 4 seasons, either alongside Gana in a 442 or 4231, or with two players in a 433.

He'd be coming in to allow us to phase Barry out, to allow us to possibly sell McCarthy, to allow us to develop Davies at an appropriate pace, and to allow us to not have to rely on Besic being thrown back in to playing 90 mins every five days the moment he passes a fitness test.

But yeah, not a priority or a transfer with any significant return. :coffee:

Barkley is frankly very inconsistent in midfield.
Davies has started four games?
Barry has started 4000 games?
Besic is recovering from a cruciate.

Hardly glorious options. Plus who really cares.
This guy was wanted by some of the countries biggest clubs 18 months ago. He had a rough time at UTD, had a personal crisis and is now on the verge of signing for us.

I bet you didnt want Arteta as he had a tough time after Rangers. Or Pienaar after his tough time at Dortmund.

Now now Dave. That's crazy talk, if it's Barkley - who replaces him? Barry starting every game for the next 3-4 weeks? McCarthy is due back before Besic, but the pair of them are never fit for an extended period of time. Schneiderlin may not be a priority (in your opinion) but he will definitely be useful.

You've been craving investment, now there's a chance, you seem to be critical because of the lack of sell on value?

He'll be a good signing IMHO.

And because we are/may sign him doesn't mean other positions won't be strengthened.
