I would have loved to have been alive when Revolver came out and heard Tomorrow Never Knows for the first time.

I think its easy to overlook The Beatles as most of us will have been beat over the head with them growing up but they did some brilliant stuff.

I will also fight anyone who says Ringo is a bad drummer. (he may be a bit of a knob...)

The Pet Shop Boys have done some tremendous songs!

They went a bit mad when they started putting cones on their heads but the likes of Rent and It's a Sin are really good.

The Pet Shop weren't mad, their image was staged managed they were boring & pretentious yeah, but not mad. Frank Zapper was mad.

Zappa was off his box most of the time. ( I like his stuff with the Bonzo Dog band )

The Pet Shop boys were about creating visual images to go with their sound, similar to New Order with their sleeve design and videos.

By the sounds of it, this is lost on you though.

I agree but going forward they have influenced Liverpool music far too much. I'll probably get banned for this but Scouse music has never moved on from that era I can only think of maybe the Bunnymen who didn't sound like them. The Coral for example are the Beatles/Gerry and the pacemakers rolled into one.

Are you sure? Just a few of the many ORIGINAL SOUNDING bands from Liverpool not influenced by or sounding like the Beatles. There are hundreds more.

I remember reading an interview with them and the singer was laying into Moby, saying he was talentless and his songs were pretty much worthless because they're not played on real guitars made of real wood and you couldn't sit on a real wooden barstool in a real pub made of real wood and play them and he'd have no career longevity, obviously ignorant of the fact that he'd been in the punk band Flipper in the '80's and that he'd been a relatively big name in electronic music since the early days of the rave scene. Cretin.

I think that pretty much sums them up. The most false hybridised group of all time.

Yeah mate correct, completely lost, can't stick New Order also. Interestingly and this is true, Zappa was never into drugs he was just naturally nuts. I was suprised when I discovered that. I actually don't like his stuff find it gibberish but he was obviously talented and a great guitarist.
