The real reason why the 3-5-2 is probed about would be Coleman and Baines I reckon mate, as both are attacking and athletic enough to play as wing backs. I'd disagree with Neville at CB, looking purely at the options we had there then I'd go with Heitinga if you was playing that as his distribution would make it fluid enough.

Interesting to ponder though as it does leave us with two up front and Arteta pushed on in a defined attacking position, I think one of our many weaknesses at the moment is the Fellaini/Arteta balance in midfield, they're positioning themselves too similar.

Although I reckon deep down Moyes is a bit of a sailor. I just know it.

Yeah agreed mate. Nev is in there purely on what's available to us right now. Also potentially Victor for Saha as a few people have commented on earlier. I think in Baines and Coleman we have to of the best attacking fullbacks who are ready made wingbacks. Midfield is interesting as Rodwell, Bily or Ossie could come into consideration. I suppose its all about balance which is not something we have at the moment !!
 
So...do we bench Mikel going into Wednesday?

EDIT: Looks like no since most of you have him in your line-ups. But just askin'.

I think similar to 4-5-1 you'd need a special player to make it work tho mate. Pienaar and Arteta aren't suddenly going to start pinging them in just cos we change formation. You'd need at least one regular goalscorer playing in one of those two positions.

According to the tactical analysis that Executioner just put up Arteta and Pienaar had a woeful amount of passes into the box. I think THREE between them. That's a new problem now...

EDIT: My bad. It was TWO. One each. Aka we need these guys to step up or we don't just have a striker problem. We have a midfield problem.
