A reporter at the echo was on talksport yesterday and said Pereria put his name forward for the job.

So I think it's rather a case of us letting him know he's got the job, than him wanting it!

Honestly do you think Bill has returned the call?

Not quite.

He said that Pereira's people had come forward saying he was interested. There's a gap between initial interest & accepting a position. The fact that we denied the pre-contract agreement yesterday, but didn't deny he was on the shortlist, says to me that talks might be ongoing. The fact that he's returned to Portugal for discussions with Porto makes me wonder if we may have been used as a lever to get him a payrise here, but we'll see soon enough.

the longer this drags on the more I think Davek might be bang on with his call

someone made a good point earlier about whelan making public his private meeting with martinez today, if he hadn't done that we'd have been none the wiser, i wouldn't call it draggin on just yet, over 17000 posts just feels like it is....

I think it's interesting that some online sources, albeit some aren't reliable, are stating "Everton set to appoint Pereira" whereas I haven't seen the equivalent for Martinez, I may be wrong though.

FOOTBALLBBC Sport's Ben Smith learns that Wigan chairman Dave Whelan and manager Roberto Martinez have held "extremely constructive" talks, but no decision on Martinez's future will be made today.
Smith adds that the pair will reconvene at the start of next week - either on Monday or Tuesday - with Whelan wanting to see if he can fulfil a number of requests from his manager relating to the construction of a new training ground and the academy.

It looks like no Premier League team is intrested in him, not even Stoke

SSN are implying that Martinez has 'various' offers to look at, including 'staying at Wigan'. I suppose the others are Everton, Stoke, Malaga, and maybe even Porto. If he does leave Wigan, I reckon Neville is a good shout for the Wigan job.
Unfortunately, I have know idea who will be managing Everton next season, I just hope its not Stubbs.

All this Whelan working on the academy thing isn't 100% true. They haven't even got permission to build their academy just yet. Whelan owns a country club (including hotel, pool etc) and wants to build the academy there (he is already having some youth players living in the country club), but they dont have permission because it's greenbelt land and there is alot of protest about it. How he could promise anything to Martinez just isn't true.

I can't wait until Alan Stubbs is announced as the new manager.

RE: news stories regarding Pereira; newspapers and websites are jumping on the wagon after the Portuguese newspaper reported he had signed for us. They haven't a clue, not even SS know who are new manager is. Obviously if he had signed a pre-contract agreement then we wouldn't have 8 or so candidates for the job.

Has Pereira been offered the job?

If Everton wants him it should get moving because there are vacancies at Napoli and PSG, and almost certainly Real Madrid.

Porto have lost two players, to Monaco I believe, so I don't see him staying there now.

Why 'cant you wait' for him to be our new manager.

Yes, I think Martinez stalling for time, trying to draw a concrete offer is likeliest reason for this outcome.

Meanwhile Kenwright and the Everton board remain tight-lipped zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
