We are waiting for Pereira to let us know if he wants the job,
If he says No Martinez will tell Whelan hes off, if Pereria says yes.
Martinez might stay,

This makes sense.

We can all moan about no news from the club. But if they want Pereira they will talk to him without telling the press, if they appoint him as the manager then they will wait for Porto to say he has gone before telling everyone.

Just my opinion, But I think he has been offered the Job ( Pereira ) Porto have made him some offer ( yesterday ) and he is taking 24 hours or so to talk and think over both offers with his family. If he decides a stint in the prem and a move for his family is ok, then I think he is the new Everton Manager.

Martinez, as stated above, must be biding his time in case Pereira stays at Porto.

I may be miles wrong, but that is what I think.

By the way, ignore the bookies, everyone has been favourite, Lennon is on the move in again.

All this Whelan working on the academy thing isn't 100% true. They haven't even got permission to build their academy just yet. Whelan owns a country club (including hotel, pool etc) and wants to build the academy there (he is already having some youth players living in the country club), but they dont have permission because it's greenbelt land and there is alot of protest about it. How he could promise anything to Martinez just isn't true.

Think he's promised to tell him about his broken leg,in confidence like.

Not quite.

He said that Pereira's people had come forward saying he was interested. There's a gap between initial interest & accepting a position. The fact that we denied the pre-contract agreement yesterday, but didn't deny he was on the shortlist, says to me that talks might be ongoing. The fact that he's returned to Portugal for discussions with Porto makes me wonder if we may have been used as a lever to get him a payrise here, but we'll see soon enough.

And there is a whole world of difference between chatting to someone and MAKING IT CLEAR THEY ARE YOUR NUMBER ONE TARGET. Let's be honest has Bill ever given the impression he could sell water to a dying man let alone a top six club to a prospective buyer or manager?

Another thing, when ex-players who are part of your coaching staff show interest in the position, you interview them, you also say in public that they deserve the position. All this out of respect to them and once you hire someone else you tell them that they were very close to geting the job but in the end “X” was chosen after seriously considering them….

Seriously though, F*** Martinez. He should be biting Bill's hand off for the Everton job, it's too good for him, says I. If he isn't, it's beneath us to wait around for him.

There is still a perfect candidate for us out there lads; he wants to come and doesn't mind managing a skint club either:
