To be honest i would quite like martinez but for the people who don't want him everyone needs to give him a chance and get behind him from the start.

Let me pull two quotes of of Twitter:

Dave Whelan: "Everton asked for permission to speak to Roberto last Thursday. I told them to wait until I had spoken to Roberto today."

Dave Whelan: "Roberto still had 12 months remaining on his contract and that will need buying out."

That means Martinez wasn't part of the interviews conducted with the external candidates then? Then I reckon it's still far from certain that he'll join us for sure.

Oh, and we don't have money to buy him out. Use the 5 mil to get a decent 2nd keeper if Mucha leaves to Slovenia ffs.

I am worried that he won't spend what money we give him right. We need to replace Fellaini probably, and our squad is tiny as it is. ****tin meself here.

Rather it was Vitor but prefer Martinez to virtually every other candidate mentioned particularly our untried backroom staff.

Whelan on TalkSport:
- He half expected Martinez to leave
- When asked if Everton have asked to speak, he confirmed Bill rang on Friday to ask for permission to speak to Martinez. Permission was given immediately.
- "One thing Everton have got is a chairman who is one honest guy, and I'd trust him if I were Roberto."
- Doesn't think Martinez will head back to Spain.

From Sky "@SkySportsNews: Sky Sports News understand that Everton are expected to seek talks with Martinez after making an approach to Wigan on Friday #ssn"

He told LFC to do one, and may come here. That'd make a derby win sweet.

Whelan just said on TalkSport that Kenwright rang him on Friday to ask if he could speak to Martinez.
