Ithink there are managers who want to manage at a club with ambitions, and there are managers who are quite happy
To tread water and avoid relegation, with Martinez turning the Shoite down i wonder if the job was too big for him ?
We will never know, because like it or not tHe Shoite job is big, IMO we should swerve him

Yes he is on a tighter budget he sells top players at the end of every season for 15 million + and finds other forien player for a few million - when Charles insogbia was a star player at Wigan sold to Villa where he looks average at best under Lambert Martinez had him playing all over the front line - if bungling bill goes for the stressed out of work German with a local assistant like Stubbs or Weir expect relegation ! Martinez needs to arrive with his own backroom staff & his chief scout & lets have a clean sweep!

We are not getting relegated whoever is in charge, We have a top 7 side, who unless their's a disaster should be finishing in the top 7. We are much better than the 14 sides below us.

No it wasn't, Wimbledon stayed in the top flight for years on similar recources. But then again they had the great Joe Kinnear at the helm

Football was a completely different game back then and this has no relation to Wigan going down whatsoever. As soon as money came into the game Wimbledon not only went down but were finished up.

we are much better [under moyes].

Under any old manager I really don't see us being anything other than another team in the league. We probably wont get relegated. The manager would have to be a real idiot combined with other factors like injuries and bad decisions but the idea that players alone will see us maintain our league position is fantasy. It's how well a manager motivates and organises his team and the morale and desire he instills in them.

Remember that West Ham team that got relegated. Three years later most of that team were playing internationally.

Management Uber Alles in football.

We are about to find out—especially with the wrong appointment—how good Moyes was for us. Hopefully we don't have to learn that lesson and we'll get someone not only as good but better.

It seems unlikely.

You are just being petty to be fair
It's not petty in the slightest - "to be fair".

Getting a team promoted from the Championship is a lesser task than getting a team into the CL. He thinks he can't do the former - I think that is a good indication he can't do the latter.

Some of our fans are clueless, Everton is a massive club who is looking for a manager, he might not get this offer from us again? he owed wigan **** all, he given them a present in the F.A cup.

HE didn't give them the FA cup mate. The whole team, club and staff payed their part.

Bill's now in the driving seat, and has the opportunity to assess the psychological suitability of candidates during his interviews. We're essentially in Plato's Cave, looking at stat's and shadows.

Pretty sure it was down to not giving him full control of football matter's and having to work with a DOF.

You suggesting that even if he didn't agree with how they wanted the club run, and his role in it, that he should of taken the job anyway just because its Liverpool (a more ambitious club) ????

He's waited another season and is now likely to get the BETTER team on merseyside.....Take a bow son!!
