He's got a year left on his deal. The compo isn't gonna be all that. And if he wants the job, Whelan won't stand in his way. Hes a bell, but he won't stop him going over a few bob compo.

I do think he wants it. Think he's not too comfortable going to a club who's chairman is hawking over you, ala Villa and the RS.

He won't go the Barcodes either. Turning down the RS once only to work for Mike Ashley? He's too sensible for that

I sincerely hope you're right. And if not him then some other external candidate. This club needs the windows thrown open to let some freshness back in. The last thing in the world we need right now is a promoted poodle who'll just carry on the dull as dishwater 'project'. We need an outsider with vision and creativity...and lots of contacts.

"However, Martinez's claims are contrary to those of Liverpool co-owner Tom Werner.

The American, talking to the BBC last week, claimed that while a number of people were spoken to about the position vacated by Dalglish, Rodgers was the only one to receive an offer."

They would say that.

You suggesting a newspaper has mislead me with a headline that doesn't correspond to the story, I'm not having that!

Werner: Hi Roberto, we would like to talk to you abut becoming the next Liverpool Manager.

Martinez: LOOOOOL. Nah. Not interested.

Werner: OK. We won't make you an offer then.
