There would be worse choices, that's for sure.

I dont think his record after Everton was too impressive, tbh. Getting PNE to the play off was reasonable but he fell on his face at Sheff Wed.

If he'd kept his powder dry he'd have been odds on to take over at Everton, IMO.

Just going off his wiki....made Wednesday manager in January 2010 and he was Championship Manager of the Month in his first month in charge....they eventually went down on the last day of the season...Mandaric took over and gave him money to spend but results didn't improve...on 3rd February 2011 he was sacked with the club lying in 12th position.

Before he took over they had lost 14 out of 26 and had a win rate of just 19.23%.

His record was:

2009/10 WWWLWLWLLLWLDDDWDDLLDLD
2010/11 WWDWLWWLLLLDWDWWDLLWWWWWWLLWLLWDLDWL

P59 W24 D13 L22 Win rate 40.68%

He only had just over a year in the Wednesday job and his record is decent. After he was sacked they lost 11 of their remaining 22 games and the win rate went down to 27.27%. Maybe Mandaric just wanted his own man in?

Perhaps Irvine felt (quite rightly) harshly treated and wanted a more settled job away from first team management after Wednesday?

I really like the sound of this guy. I'd love him to get the job.

Yeah, he does seem to know his stuff and we're a patient club who will give him time to see how he develops, we need someone. What im worried about are we still going to be Man u bum buddies now Moyes the manager, Kenwright will need to wake up and smell the coffee and realized that Moyes now works for Man u.

By the way, Wigan are trying to win at The Emirates for the second season on the bounce tonight. Something else Martinez has done that Moyes hasn't (winning something being the obvious other).

Just saying like.

Positive that he speaks fluent English. His tactics seem like they would fit Everton well too. I'm not against him I'm just not automatically in favour of him just because he's foreign.

I don't people are automatically in favour of him because he's foreign. He's got a great record despite having his best players sold, wins big games, his team plays good football...

His good looks and impressive beard are just an added bonus!

Um...I don't see what all the fuss about that. They are going down, something Moyes has never managed to do.
