Moyes sacked by United

Cant see the likes of Rooney and Mata having much time for him. They probably need to clear out all the old guard like Giggs and start again. As good a player as Giggs was he's got the charisma of a toothbrush.

Neville is one of the worst players I've seen play for Everton. Stifled every attack by being so slow on the ball with such an awful first touch. Unbelievable he got so many caps for England. Shudders at the thought of him managing us.
Agree they need a clear out but from what I understand the class of 92 including even beckham hold massive sway in the club and they all back each other up.

Think United could do with a clearout as you suggest.

Won't happen though. They are hung up on not being like Chelsea/City and being a club of tradition. Don't get me wrong, I like tradition too, but sometimes you need to freshen things up.

He's proved this season that he's not up to managing Manchester United OR Everton.

Hopefully he'll find a club happy to languish mid-table and find a bit of humility too.
I think humility requires self awareness and self awareness requires a level of intelligence. The disturbing thing about moyes is that he is extremely egotistical while at the same time being of below average intellect one of the ramifications of which means he never learns from his mistakes or grows as a manager.

Moyes, Giggs, Scholes and Neville all seem a bit mentally deficient. Neville is a grown man with highlights in his hair for christ sakes.

All Dynasty's rise and all Dynasty's fall. Manchester United i personally believe will go the way Liverpool did at the beginning of the 90's. United fans need to be prepared for a long barren run. No matter what Manager comes in now without any European football, a squad that needs a complete overhaul and a board that i personally do not believe will invest massively means that the good old days have well and truly been banished for a long time.

Watch the sponsors etc run a million miles when next year they make two years without champions league football. Its going to be one long road back for United.

Rooney's done him here....300K per week just as you're entering decline. Going to look like one of the worst deals ever done by a football club in a year or two.
Agreed, any world class players they try to sign now are going to walk into Old Trafford and say "right then, whats your top earner on? 300k a week you say, ok, lets start there"

Thats the key right there

Will they spend big to ensure CL football and keep the sponsors

I don't think it was just Moyesey that sanctioned that £300k a week deal: that would have had board agreement.

Wouldn't surprise me if this sees a board reshuffle too.

Roberto is safe enough I reckon, UTD are well shot of us after Moyes and Fellaini.

Laurent Blanc to Utd
Ginger Pulis to Stoke

A lot of that depends on who can take up utd's mantle. At present I don't view the RS as necessarily a good bet to achieve that for a sustained period. Again though that depends on whether mourinho will implode at chelski under his siege mentality like he did before, or whether city are prepared to stick with pellegrini.

What makes you so sure they won't back the manager? Wasn't the lack of confidence in trusting moyes with the 200m war chest one of the reasons he got the sack? He also spent 60m himself don't forget.

That's just one of the theories put forward as to why he was sacked. I don't believe he was sacked as they did not trust him with money. If that was the case Ed Woodward would be gone also as he by all accounts is the man who makes and breaks the deals at the club now.

The buck stops with the results and they have been terrible coupled with the players not buying into his ethos for whatever reason. Moyes position became untenable due to these facts IMO

What I really don't get our why Moyes completely abandoned his 'hidden gems' philosophy. I think it would have been more palatable if he bought 4-5 really talented players at 5mil each like was his forte at Everton. I think they would have seen it as building for the future, which United needed anyways. Instead he buys two players that weren't even needed.
