This is hogwash Steven.

Since 2019 we're not even in the top 10 biggest spenders in the league.

We're suffering from wasting the mass investment pumped into transfers/wages during the 16-18 years.

And if we're not competing with the sky 6 then what is even the point in supporting the club if we've no desire to win anything? So we can get dooey eyed looking over the balance sheet as we finish the season in 13th with no trophies or europe ??

The counter point may be mate, that Brighton or Brentford are getting close now.

Or consider it another way, Sevilla have just won a 7th Europa league. Theyve also won domestic cups, and a super cup. They're no bigger than us. But we have to start thinking like someone like Sevilla, and not thinking we are the Everton of the 60s.

It's not league titles, which we all want, but christ on a bike, if you said over the next 15-20 years we would win 7 Europa leagues, an FA Cup, Charity shield and Super cup would we all not see that as a golden era?

Im not so sure myself mate - the PL TV cash keeps rising and rising. If MSP buy us they'll potentially be owners for the next decade realistically same as Glazers, FSG, Kroenke, Khan, Palace owners etc.

The PL is a cash cow for these US investors they'll not be a short term fix then flip us on to oil barons imo hence why I'm totally against them/777.
Difference between Glazers/FSG/Kroenke and MSP is that the others used their own capital to buy in whilst MSP will bring in external investors for the capital.

With MSP however the investors will want to see returns/profit on their investment. MSP will manage the asset (us) and will eventually sell based on market values and pressure from investors to provide the profit/return.

So comparing our situation with Man U/RS/Arsenal is wrong.

I wouldn't think about these investors in that way.

This is more a hedge fund move than it is a purchase of company stock. The investors will know what they're getting into. They're buying a large portion of a distressed asset at that sort of price. The asset has a cashflow problem, which will cost to cure, and explains why they're getting in at distressed-asset pricing.

The long-term outlook is bright. It would be hard to screw up making greater returns on the investment than they could receive on something more liquid that generates cash, like a dividend stock. To make that happen, though, they will have to wait to realize the returns. They will have their internal politics on the timing, and you're probably right that those politics will drive them to cash in before they probably should.

Brighton have just finished in the top 6 without spending above their stations in a season that they lost their manager early doors, just like we did under Moyes. You run the club like it should be run, have a solid transfer strategy without clueless people sticking their oars in and put a competitive team on the pitch and you have a chance

I guarantee you said the same thing about Leicester 2-3 seasons ago when they were a conveyer belt of talent, finishing top 6 yet where are they now ? I'll tell you where somewhere that Moshiri's Everton has never been - in the Championship.

Like Leicester Brighton will take a dip at some point and you'll have to find the next Swansea/Wolves/Leeds/Leicester/Brighton that we should aspire to be.

I'll bite your hands off for a Carabao Cup mate. But unfortunately the only way to win one of those is buy spending money wisely but still spending money.

Moshiri is spending money on signings whilst still covering losses and funding the new ground.

Imo MSP wont be as generous so forget sufficient investment in players outside of player sales even when the accounts/FFP are in a healthier position. Its back to the Kenwright days for us we just best hope we find another Moyes to work magic in terms of recruitment otherwise we're in trouble.

I think we have to be realistic about the situation we are in mate.

He cant access his accounts in the UK, so has no access to funds. Like if the choice was Moshiri spending money badly V Americans not spending money it would be a worthwhile conversation. But effectively he has no access to money now.

I'm wary of MSP too, I want to hear a lot more from them. But they have had some involvement in football, and sports more broadly which is a small positive, and will provide some funds that allows the stadium to be built, and hopefully capitalised on.

We were 45 minutes from being just that lest you forget and we are still facing an investigation over Moshiri’s spending

You’re right Everton shouldn’t aspire to be any of them clubs we are Everton. Under Moyes when we was constantly finishing 5th and 6th it was just a top 4 usually Man U Arsenal Liverpool Chelsea. Man City came along and we failed to make the jump with Spurs when really we should have. Now it’s the sky 6 and Newcastle will make it the Sky 7. Still pains me all that money wasted by block head that was the chance we had and we blew it. I get we need to be smarter and do things right but with out proper investment it only takes for the plan to go wrong one season then the next your circling the drain.

We would of course. But that will never happen as long as this fanbase continues to look its collective nose down on the League Cup, FA Cup, and European competition in some deluded bid for Champions League qualification - or even mere survival.

It saddens me what Kenwright has done to our fanbase over the years mate. You had fans clapping his grid on the big screen now fast forward a decade you have fans openly saying we shouldn't be wanting to go toe to toe with the european sides / Moshiri's generous investment has been the problem and not Kenwright's waste of said investment on poor acquisitions.

No ambition just like the chairman lad.

I dont think we look down our noses at those comps.

Oh, plenty do. "We don't want Thursday night football - it'll kill our chances of getting into Europe."

That kind of circular nonsense is also at play when people lament our failure to win a cup while simultaneously dismissing our latest second round League Cup exit on penalties to Scarborough as a needless waste of time.

Generous enough that we’re under scrutiny because he’s a clueless dope who doesn’t know the word no, man literally could have stepped in at any time over the last 7 years and said ‘hang on, we’re spending how much? No, you can’t have that’. Not only would it have stopped us signing the likes of Keane, Bolasie, Gomes, Schneiderlin, Walcott, Tosun etc, it also would have stopped the merry go round of managerial changes we’ve been on
