Would be the perfect game to see if Gibson is ready to have any impact/"help the team"
I would be very happy to be proven wrong on Besic in terms of his partnership with McCarthy. Both outstanding prospects, but to me why have two 'hasslers' in the team? I've seen nothing to suggest that Besic is a good option going forward. Further, offensively I remember the game against west ham away when we were on the attack, Besic would get to the last third and stop - look devoid of ideas and play it sideways to either Barry or Barkley. It was so frustrating. And that's not a stick to beat the lad with, I just don't think he's very creative at all.
Contrast that to Barry who isn't as mobile, doesn't have the bite in a tackle like Besic, but has moments of quality like against Young Boys which I personally I dont think besic would even think about doing.
I'm not saying Besic can't develop these sides of his game - far from it - but for now I think he has alot to learn from Barry if he is every going to form a partnership with McCarthy who I think we all agree with be the mainstay of the team
...I'd like to see Besic learn his trade in that specialist position in front of the back 4. It's not as straightforward as saying he'll replace suspended Barry, that job is different. I think eventually Besic might be a perfect fit (our Makelele) but until then I think Gibson is better suited.

I think don't see a reason why either Besic or McCarthy have to be have that incisive pass going forward. With their pace and energy we could push Coleman and Baines further forward and the the two wingers would become inside forwards.
Our problem is that we don't really have those types of players on the wings so we should aim to get crosses in like we did against YBs.
At the moment our team is a little unbalanced however that idea would stretch the opposition width wise and give Barkley a bit of room.
