Besic could IMO be used in central defense. He sometimes plays there for Bosnia, and his pace, technique and tackling would be well suited for that position.

He is a centere-back mate. He only moved into midfield at the World Cup last year.

I couldn't believe this when I saw the team sheet. Made no sense. As far as decisions go, this is as bad as playing David James up front... or Putting Howard straight back in for Robles.

He's said himself that he prefers it in midfield, and I think at the moment he wouldnt be suited to playing in defence in the prem.

I reckon we'll see a lot of Besic playing in a holding midfield role this pre-season, and I'd imagine we might see Barkley next to him for a few games before re-intergrating McCarthy.

He's too reckless in the tackle and nowhere near big enough to be a PL centre back.
