There are no criminals in our trade. Families come to a welcome place to enjoy an afternoon in the sun. Men come to play dominoes and have a chat. Weddings take place and marriage anniversaries happen in a relaxed atmosphere, it’s controlled, it’s legal and regulated. Trying to compare it is a bit silly really. The end point is in which ‘business‘ do gangs fight, guns get used and innocents die from gunshots….

it is amazing how legalizing something and regulating it results in less crime

one might even think that was a good idea

And then they all go outside pissed, fight with glasses bottles and knives, then get into cars and drive home, hopefully not mounting any pavements or crashing into innocent pedestrians and killing anybody on the way so they can safely beat up their wives and children when the arrive home in their drunken stupor

Totally understand Pete but Tommy or Mikel could have had a daughter that was killed by a drunk driver, the same way as you could have had a daughter killed as a result of drugs.
Everyone’s life experiences are different and everyone has their reasons for being emotive around different vices.

Impossible to take out the criminals.
If they don’t make their money from drugs they will just move on to something else like human trafficking

That is true, but its much harder to make money from that - or gambling, prostitution, "protection", frauds or just plain old theft.

The vast majority of organized crime groups are drug focused as well, so they'd find it incredibly difficult to cope with the loss of income that would follow.

I understand that, which is why pubs have a legal obligation not to supply drink to a drunk or anyone underage, under pain of losing their license and livelihoods. I’m not sure the scrotes supplying drugs have a similar standard…..

Drug dealers and Pub landlords, they both deal in death.

How far do you go though.
You can’t legalise every drug and the criminals will just make their money from the unregulated drugs and offer these drugs that are more lethal than cannabis at knock down prices to get them hooked and the loop continues
