I'm keen on the notion of us signing promising talents but I was hoping for that we'd sign a player that can immediately provide an impact as the thought of Coleman starting again gives me the shudders. hopefully he distinguishes himself swiftly but if not I'll still support him.

I think that’s going to be the overarching POV, ultimately. The dust hasn’t settled on Brands’s departure yet, so are we seeing his players coming in to play under a coach that wasn’t keen? Or are these Benitez picks that may ACTUALLY signal a more positive approach?

I’m eternally an optimist, which I know is bizarre for an Evertonian pushing 40, so I’m hoping it’s the latter. I’m also an Evertonian pushing 40 so every fibre of my being knows it’s probably the former and we’ll still be a pile of crap come the end of the season.

Still, though. I’ll continue to dream…
Try pushing 57! 52 of them supporting Everton!

Will be glad if able to get this deal done. Young, hungry and determined to improve.
I think we overpaid but our RB issue is so widely publicised, that I think any club would've inflated the price. We have 0 negotiation power.

Money doesn’t guarantee success and cheap doesn’t necessarily mean bad. Coleman at 60k was my favourite player before his leg break, Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Tosun, Gbamin, Kean, Keane, Bolasie all cost loads and contributed way below their outlay (the kindest way I could put that).

Coleman didn't get a game for 2 seasons as Hibbert was 1st team with Neville stepping in if needed.

Of course it money doesn't mean success. But I find it frightening if we throw this kid in the way we are at the moment.

He's played about as many Scottish games as Kenny did at Celtic, and he obviously played a full season in the Bundesliga as well. I'm not sure the stats really tell us much about the kind of player he is.

I was responding to someone saying Branthwaite has played more top level football than he has.
