You have to look at the coaching.

He's not covering himself in glory granted but he's 20 and he's got a ginger scotch egg coaching him.

Get rid of Dyche, get Coleman back in, get a decent manager and coaching set up to work with Patterson behind the scenes.

Don't right him off yet. It's hard for any one to look good in this current system/set up - if you can call it that.

Problem is Dyche is a defensive manager, he surely should be the ones who are improving under him and his coaching team.

He shouldn't be written off yet, however the signs are not positive, he has regressed since his initial positive performances.

He isn't though is he - we're worse defensively under Dyche than we were Lampard.

What Dyche is, is a very bad football manager.

Close thread - the evertonian das have spoken - the lad will never make it and shouldn’t be playing for any prem team.

Sooooooooooo boring.

Young player gonna make mistakes shock - let’s get behind him and the rest instead of this.
Ahh the “Everton da’s” line, in an attempt to look edgy and categorise people with a different view to yours. Smashing work and so original, well done.

When did he last have a decent game? He’s been here nearly 2 years and we paid a lot of money for him.

You think he’s done well in that 2 year period? He’s been injured more than he’s been fit. He seems to be regressing as shown last night when he for some reason knocked a 10 yard ball out of play because he couldn’t find the feet of a team mate 12 yards away

….not too sure about the ‘defensive manager’ tag. The last time we played them at Turf Moor, their LB was continually getting to our bye line, he was probably the most attacking player on the pitch. In the game at Goodison (where McNeil scored), they passed us off the pitch.

Just because they've been good players ala Frank Lampard, doesn't mean they automatically make good coaches.

There's a player in Patterson, who's better than what he's currently showing, he's 20, so it's an important time in his development, unfortunately for him and us, it's under the current regime.
He's 22 in a few weeks time.

Nonetheless, he's shown nothing at any level in football apart from 2 or 3 international games for Scotland in qualifiers plus last season's first derby.

But if you and others are prepared to keep faith with him and allow him to stay in this team when we're a relegation threatened outfit that needs to stop leaking goals, then that's your opinion I suppose.

'Everton Da's' and 'bigots'.

Just about any old insult to avoid actually making a case for this lad who has failed beyond all doubt.

Dyche has always said he's been put into a labelled box, and in his Everton career I do not see that box as ill-fitting. He has one plan, to lump it, his full backs aren't particularly attacking in his set ups. *Whether that is because its Patterson and Mykolenko, that's another question.

I gave him a pass last season because he was firefighting, and he has been let down by by not having a striker. However he's not an adaptable manager. History shows he has one plan, and his plan is deemed good enough because of late subs. This is what a Burnley fan told me in work when we appointed him. Doesn't think his plan is the problem and for the first 70-80 minutes he wont really make changes.

Perhaps defensive isn't the word, perhaps a manager with a defensive "structure". Regardless, full backs should be thriving with Dyche with their defending, but he is struggling is Patterson. It's massively concerning that however old Coleman is now, he still comes right back in for me.

He's only 20 isn't he? or 21? It's not a write off yet, and we'd get a few million for him as well, but he is not showing any signs of progression.

Think you’ve answered part of the issue with him there mate.

I think he was playing quite well until the last injury, and I agree he hasn’t been consistent enough when he has played, but tell me a player in our team who is consistent? We’ve got seasoned pros playing like pub players mate, there’s so many issues with the squad.

I’m not ready to write the lad off yet and have seen enough to recognise there’s a player there, a bit of confidence & support would do him and the team the power of good.

You’re just a bigot Dave, you wrote this lad off before he signed for us mate.

I see a player who isnt being aloud to play to his strengths and is not being protected by his senior team mates (gueye/tarkowski)
Both these players have been terrible all of the games they have played this season yet people devide to pick on a 21 year old lad.
The likes of Baines/Coleman could excell because of the likes of Gareth Barry, Jagielka, Distin....even Phil Neville covering them to allow them to move up the pitch
Stop making excuses for him so it’s their fault he can’t cross or kicks the ball out of play? Hes young yes but he’s also crap.

Forget who’s coaching him he needs minutes on the pitch and right now that needs to be at another club in a lower league he isn’t premier league ready at all.
