Confirmed Signing Neal Maupay

I think we really wanted Broja as competition mate, I now think we have decided he won't be coming so went to the next one

…I’m still of a view that another striker might still be on the agenda. I have no issue waiting for Broja if there are positive vibes from Chelsea, but it‘s sheer folly not bringing in an effective striker ahead of the season.

Yep this.

Seen a shout saying "lukuku to maupey, we have fallen"

Well no it's from rondon to maupey, which is a massive upgrade, we have had a awful squad over the last few years. He improves our strikers massively with Dominic Calvert-Lewin being injured and gives us a safe pair of hands whilst he's injured.

I'm relatively happy with him
Might as well say Dixie Dean to Brett Angell if we’re going all the way back to Lukaku ?

Also Lukaku was signed to be our top man.
DCL is still our number 9 and is a very effective goalscorer when fit… I can’t really remember us having a second striker option that’s been effective for years!? He’s certainly better than Tosun or Niasse or Kone coming off the bench.

Well when the 19/20 season started under Carlo our front three was Richarlison Dominic Calvert-Lewin James

Until Dominic Calvert-Lewin is fit our starting front three now is most likely to be Gray Maupay McNeill
although judging from Franks presser it seems like Gordon may stay so best case we might be looking at Gray Dominic Calvert-Lewin Gordon.

I know we couldn’t afford James and we had to sell Richarlison but it still feels like a downgrade in quality.
It definitely is a downgrade in quality up top atm.
But i wont compare best case worst case as i think Richy/Dom/James started a dozen games together at most.
Will be hugely disappointed if we dont bring in more attacking options before window closes, but right now if Maupay is signed and fit to play tomorrow, it gives us a bit more going into the Brentford game, and if we can somehow grab 3pts it would take a massive weight off.
McNeil and now Maupay arent going to set world alight, we 100% need better in going forward, but right now imo beggars cant be choosers.

It's what we excelled in from around 2000-2010. Nobody was excited to sign Cahill, Arteta, Pienaar, T-How, Bent, Jagielka, Dustin et al. I think he'll do ok here will Morps.
Moyes’ eye for a player in lower leagues was legendary tbf. I don’t follow too much outside of Everton but I’m guessing he brought in Soucek, Bowen etc. which saw West Ham on European adventures last season.

Definitely rather this than buying Tosun, Walcott, Keane, Sigurdsson for mega money.

I’m so much happier with our transfer dealings this summer so far. Just wish we’d had a striker before game one and we’d easily have 5-7 points right now.

Yes agree with this...although have to say I saw how Arteta ran the show at Rangers and thought he was very much what we needed at the time.
