2024/25 Neal Maupay

I mean, he is absolutely correct that no one should get close quarters verbal abuse for doing their job. At the same time, I do wonder what referees make of it when they read players complaining about it. I’m sure Maupay has never told a ref to eff off though.
Good point about the refs getting abuse. As much as we all like to have a go at the officials, they must really have nerves of steel at times to go out in front of a crowd of 30-60 thousand and get serious grief for every decision they make. You could say the lad shouting abuse at the players at Euston was only doing what players do to refs every time a decision is given against them, with Maupay being the exact type of player to be in a refs ear (although he`s never on the pitch to do so at the moment).

How can it be 'making stuff up' if it's an interpretation of multiple events you absolute wet wipe.
Go back to bed and try again tomorrow, you're embarrassing yourself today.

Corrr, 'embarrassing yourself' one of the standard internet put downs. Such mental superiority. What's next? 'I'm cringing for you mate' or 'you're typing from your mum's spare room, mate'? Try not to be so sensitive and emotional fella. We post stuff, people question it, and maybe disagree. It's just the internet and defo not worth getting all triggered about.

It was a simple question to your claims about the manager was courting confrontation from the fans, and wanting out. We've now established your comments were based on nothing but what's in your own head, and that's fine.

Under Moyes our fanbase was largely respected in the game. Nowadays we're painted as troublemakers akin to Millwall/Leeds who get on the players and managers back at the first sign of trouble. Booing the team during the first game of the season only adds to the problem.

Whilst all clubs have idiot fans who take things too far, we've created a narrative to which the Kopite media can easily exploit.

Whilst I appreciate the clubs dire situation has increased angst amongst level headed fans in recent years, there are however career bedwetters who enjoy riling up the fanbase with their persistent doom mongering that results in the sort of shenanigans caught on camera.
DM has been sacked by many a club mate ....

They`d be getting legged by Ultra`s in Italy and even worse in South America.

Neil Lennon got a parcel bomb sent in the post at Celtic and legged when out with his family.

It`s not unique to Everton or even England for that matter.
If he was out with his missus and kids and got abuse, I would understand media reaction. He just got a bit of verbal, after that fella spent husband worked money watching this crap. Being abused is part if being a famous player, it wasn't anything Maupay hasn't heard before or given out.

This is what happens when the fanbase allows haters and trolls to get away with abusing its players, managers, owner, fellow fans etc. for clout and likes. Some feel emboldened enough to act out in public.

Far too much smoke without fire over the past few years concerning an element of our fanbase for there to not be concern:

Stones
Lyon game
Digne
Mina
Gordon
Headlock gate
Keane
Ivan Toney
Moshiri
Dyche
Maupay

Turn it in you utter flute. Headlock gate hahahaha, one gullible fella you.

You live in denial, as do many others.

You believe that numerous current & ex players, current & ex managers, ex board members, news reporters, other fans both EFC and none EFC are all in cahoots in making lies up about our fans, for what purpose ?

Do you think players like Lindstrom will want to stick around when he's reading nothing but negativity about the place ?

Digne hit with a bottle, Mina & Gordon harassed outside of the ground, team booed off the pitch after one game, manager hounded to be sacked after two games... all lies & conspiracy ?

People who travel the country watching their club finally lost their temper after being served up another dose of poor, soulless football. They happened to see a chance to vent their spleen during their long journey home.
It would , could happen at any other club in the world in our position.
However people like you attempting to capitalise on it and turn the fans against each other are a more insidious threat to our future.
Out of interest where you at the Spuds game or is all your ‘considered’ support limited to typing on here ?
Oh , and you calling people trolls is priceless 😂

Maybe Maupay and others who are extremely highly paid for performing in a job they are singularly poor at, might have more appropriately offered to pay the train fares of the loyal fans however foul mouthed they were.
No chance. Footballers are too far removed from fans.

That guy mouthing off would be far better off, staying at home with family or doing extra shift work or working on his own life.

Than supporting entitled, lazy man/boys in a football kit earning £40,000 + for sitting on the bench for 90 minutes. Spending £200 on a round trip to see Mason Holgate et al is not for everyone.

Digne was playing for Villa at the time, he was also “felled” by a light bottle that glanced off Matty Cash’s bald patch, didn’t stop him going down like a sack of [Poor language removed] though. Good news is it seems to have miraculously cured young mattys baldness, so three cheers for the assassin

Nearly everyone who works, whether employed or self employed will work for customers. We all have issues from time to time with customers (in the case of a heavily commercialised football industry read customers as supporters).

I know if I tweeted about my employer's customers and questioned their actions publicly then that would likely result in an investigation with the potential for it to be a disciplinary matter regardless of whether the customers / supporters were bellends.

He had absolutely no right dragging Saturday’s unsavoury events further into the public spotlight besmirching the reputation of a big fanbase just because it the actions of a few idiots. His actions were absolutely uncalled for. Dyche and the club should be dragging him over the coals for this.

Exactly right. I've never before seen an Everton player take the p out of the club in such a public way. His statements while he was out on loan - knowing that there was a high likelihood of him returning to Goodison - now trying to become a warrior for hurt and upset footballers because he was called a rat by some drunk fellas.

As far as I know there haven't been any death or physical threats to him, nor has anybody abused him due to his nationality, religion or appearance.

IMO, as genuinely unpleasant as it is, it's absolutely realistic to expect working-class men to vent their anger when you're paid twice more weekly than they are per year despite you basically doing nothing for your money and them having to sacrifice a lot just to put food on the table and pay the bills, with going to the game perhaps their only release from everyday life.

BTW I don't condone verbal abuse of footballers or anybody in general, but it goes with the territory in a sport you can't compare with everyday life or 99% of other professions.
Agree with all you say, with the exception of the money bit. I personally have never understood what their pay has to do with it. I know it’s well worn accusation about how much money they are on, but that’s not an issue for me - it’s about professional pride. Whether you are on £100k a week or £100 a week if you representing any club’s fan base you put 100% effort in. No excuses.
