It's an obvious lie, same as his excuse for the small club comment.

If he was that concerned about his coaching staff, he wouldn't have been the world's third best paid manager while in China and he'd have shared the wealth wouldn't he?

He's not Mother Theresa; the man chased the money, blatantly.

Can't understand your post mate, not having a dig, but weren't you for Benitez the other day ? Or have I mixed you up with someone else ? Apologies if so.

I think he will do a great job
But you are being egotistical again.

You think he will do a great job so that will eliminate any hatred that some of our fans hold against him? It does not work like that. Not everyone thinks like you.

Your opinion although fair minded is also in a very small minority. He would not be allowed to do a great job purely because of the situation surrounding everything. Is that wrong? Yes. Is it daft? Yeah probably, but is it factual? Absolutely it is.

You can bring the greatest person into a role in any job. If the rest of the company (in this case the fans) do not take to that person then they will not last. It is just how life is. Your utopian thinking does not work in reality.

He won't take a dig at Liverpool, you do know that don't you ? lol
Maybe not. But it really is the smart thing to do. So let's see if he is.

Win us over. Get a good start and maybe success then ventually be remembered fondly by both clubs in the long run.

It's objective in terms of judging him as a top level club manager. You objectively put money over ambition if you go to manage in China, as in you can't subjectively argue the other way rationally.

"Style of play", "is he still good enough" is subjective. I can argue subjectively either way for those points, whereas you can't subjectively argue going to China is driven by ambition.

So it's not about my 'own opinion'.
But going for the money being a bad thing very much is subjective, so it’s absolutely no different. You’re just highlighting the thing you don’t like and framing it as a unilaterally bad thing, while saying the things other people don’t like are subjective.

Whole thing is becoming a farce.

Would like to think this is all media spin and Everton have actually agreed to a manager and have everything organised and in place.... but it’s Everton isn’t it.

He's not my first choice obviously, but I think he's better than a lot on the 'list'.

I don't have to be up his arse 100% though, I can acknowledge the flaws and still think he's not a terrible choice.

Appointing Benitez would be a return to the big Sam atmosphere in the ground, without the 6 week honeymoon period Allardyce got.
There are 2 chances for it ti work for Benitez. First, 2 year lockdown with no fans allowed in or near the ground.
Alternatively, he manages to turn this squad into the invincibles.
Its not going to work. Stop kidding yourselves.

He is not a stupid man. He would not do that. He would end up burning both bridges.

If he is serious about being successful in a new job, then some sort of tokenistic dig would go a long way. The RS have burnt their bridges with him, and for a man who wants to live with his family and earn money, you'd be surprised how your priorities change.

Rafael is like a GOD to them as he won the champions league for them - if we hire Rafael (yes they can call him an Agent when we lose), but flags have his picture on them - his name is plastered on stuff. What do they bin the stuff? They are not happy if he takes the job, as this will dent Rafael status. Rafael knows all this and is prepared to take the job.

If we got brendan rogers, would they be bothered no....he does not have GOD like status with the fans (he would have if he had won the premiership with them).

I suspect many on here would take Rogers over Benitez in a heartbeat - and that's nothing to do with any RS connection or whether Kopites like one more than the other. It's simply because Rogers is good, relevant and a team player while Benitez is crap, way past his sell-by date and an egotist.

It will not matter. It will fool nobody. He wouldn't do it anyway, he is an intelligent bloke.

Or it's toxic for months and he is chased out... What do you think is more likely?

It isn't. Under no circumstance do you hire a manager simply because "he's really good at being paid money".

You want to hire someone who wants the job for the challenge, not for the payday. So highlighting Benitez has a record of taking money first and foremost is, objectively, a criticism.
