Its all bluff so the fanbase accept a mediocre appointment in Nuno.

I thought that but surely if you’ve agreed a deal you just get it confirmed and over the line. Not sure what Nuno gains from waiting around, will want to get his feet under and get cracking on with Brands over transfers.

If it is a game Everton aren’t going about it the right way using Benitez as bait.

Personally I think you are confusing your own opinion for everyone else's. It would be a divisive appointment but the fanbase is not universally against it. He had decent support as an option on here in the poll. And I know other blues who while not enamoured with the prospect of him are not ardently against the idea. Those people get drowned out by the keyboard warriors. If we're winning then most people will support him, look at Moyes at WH. They will be quick to turn back against him but for now, a pretty much universally disliked appointment is popular and supported

Most people have awareness the options atm are not great.

If he'd started here, left for Liverpool acrimoniously, then tried to come back, it'd be different - 100% would be against him, a la Nick Barmby.

There's no doubt there will be a massive pushback to Benitez from the fans, no denying it, and he'd be pressured out if results are terrible within six months.

But if results are good, the idea that fans would boo him and be holding protests is laughable.

He's not my first choice obviously, but I think he's better than a lot on the 'list'.

I don't have to be up his arse 100% though, I can acknowledge the flaws and still think he's not a terrible choice.

No fair enough, just thought that last post wasn't really pro Benitez, now I know why.

Every other instance of this happening on football? The angry heads will always be louder than the fair minded. Is that a bit crap? Yeah sure, but that doesn't make it any less true.

Sorry you don't have an argument there with that. It is not based off anything and you are just flipping it over to try and win a discussion. You know as well as I do that he would be doomed, everyone does.
No, I just wanted to know why you were so certain. And you are relying wholly on what has gone on before. Well, what if I can list you a whole host of managers who have had successful tenures at rival clubs, what would you say then?

So about 3 weeks today we'll have a new manager.

Brilliant.

All the in fighting when he is not even coming lol there is 0 chance he will be signed, likewise with Nuno, it's just to make media busy.

I also think, while I hope it’s not just Rafael & Nuno in the frame. And there’s another manager or two lurking in the background.

But if the board/owner have interviewed both and have decided that Rafael is their preferred option for job, why would they give it to Nuno. Based on some angry fans

It'd be nearly as toxic under Nuno. We're screwed regardless. No matter what manager comes in we'd need a miraculous run of results in the first three months for the fans to not turn on him, because the realistic candidates are all varying degrees of bad, with some outright terrible.
Maybe but Rafael will be toxic division from the start and that looks to be what they are choosing. This club....
