Strange one with him, couple of big clubs looking for managers and none of them have gone in for him and looking like he’s staying in France.

Not doubting anything about his managerial abilities but it’s a surprise he’s not getting offers elsewhere given his record. Unless he’s a man of his word and wants the Nice job.

No, I just wanted to know why you were so certain. And you are relying wholly on what has gone on before. Well, what if I can list you a whole host of managers who have had successful tenures at rival clubs, what would you say then?
Why are you certain he would be accepted?

Maybe but Rafael will be toxic division from the start and that looks to be what they are choosing. This club....

What I will say is Benitez has the experience to deal with that though, or at least has a better chance of doing so than most.

If he can ride out the initial storm, get results, that'll be the end of it. That's what Evertonians are craving more than anything else - success, a plan for success, some competency.

Great we'll end up being at the mercy of Mendes all because the fanbase cany get over a small club jibe from 15 years ago lol

Wish we had Abramovich as owner/chairman bloke doesn't give a toss what the fans/media think and does what he thinks best for the club.

I just can't get excited by this fella looked burnt out at Wolves and has never won a trophy.
For the last time fella, almost everyone I know who doesn't want Benitez, don't want him for footballing reasons. I couldn't care less who he used to manage and what he said in the past about us.

Yes there are some fans who don't want him because of the RS stuff, but I bet they are in the minority. It's disingenuous to suggest otherwise.

I don't want Nuno either but I would 100% have him over Benitez.

Originally wasn’t too fussed on the appointment. At this point I’m close to past caring. Having a look at Benitez’s CV though, I don’t think he’s the right appointment. In no way do I think he’s a bad coach but look at his stints at clubs post RS. It isn’t as good as I originally thought.

Inter - Inherited a world class team that won the treble the season before and took them backwards. Was sacked sitting 7th in Seria A.

Chelsea - Inherited a world class team and won the Europa league and secured a 3rd place finish.

Napoli - inherited a team that finished 2nd the season prior. Littered with great players but couldn’t mount a title challenge. Finished 3rd and 5th and flopped in the CL big time both seasons he was there. Did pick up some cup wins though.

R.Madrid - lasted 6 months.

Newcastle - Adored by the fans yes but when he took over they were only 1 point away from safety with with 10 to play. Couldn’t save them but won the championship a season later and established them mid table in the Prem but nothing Bruce hasn’t achieved (similar points totals both seasons).

Not sure what he did in China but don’t think that really matters. Unsure what the board are seeing unless he’s swooning them with past trophy’s won and his love for the city. Yes he’s won some silverware but I’m not convinced.

Its all bluff so the fanbase accept a mediocre appointment in Nuno.

?

I raised above - Wolves went through a patch of about 1 win in 6 this season and Nuno said they need to go back to basics - since then they have kicked it up a notch - thats the sign of a good manager not our current fall into the abyss.

If he'd started here, left for Liverpool acrimoniously, then tried to come back, it'd be different - 100% would be against him, a la Nick Barmby.

There's no doubt there will be a massive pushback to Benitez from the fans, no denying it, and he'd be pressured out if results are terrible within six months.

But if results are good, the idea that fans would boo him and be holding protests is laughable.
Yeah, the reasons people aren't keen/hate it are more varied than he used to be a RS. A lot of people just don't think he'll be very good and that's absolutely their main problem , which is fair enough. But obviously if we were winning then that reasons gone
