Can I point this out with Newcastle. Howe get absolutely vilified on here for taking Bournemouth down, which should have been Villa due to a goal line technology error, but Benitez took a massive club like Newcastle down. That is far far worse than Howe going down with Bourneouth even if they had deserved to be relegated.

It is crazy that some who are saying give Benitez a chance are the same ones as saying definately not Howe as he has a relegation on his CV. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

I dont want Benitez and I dont want Howe before the usual suspects pipe up.......
I'm not a Benitez fan, but you're drawing an unfair equivalence there.

Benitez joined Newcastle 2 months before they were relegated. Howe had been at Bournemouth for 8 years. It was entirely Howe's team that failed.

Chelsea fans still dislike Rafael and he got third and a cup.. Hiding to nothing appointment for me... Shooting ourselves in the foot yet again...well I won't support it

Not strictly true. Many of their fans were asking for Rafael after Lampard left. I wouldn't say they like him,but they certainly respect the quiet work he did there.

it's not basic in my view. Cos the whole fanbase is not against this move. Alot of people realise we don't have a number of great options, and if there is a top grade manger on our doorstep desperate for the job then he should be looked at carefully. It might not work out, but I reckon he's our best bet.

As I have said loads of times though the people who are not against the move are irrelevant in this. Not everybody wanted Martinez sacked (me for example) but the anger from some fans was so high that his position was untenable. Benitez would be in the exact same boat but would not even get a honeymoon period to impress. It will be toxic from the get go.

The lack of understanding that angry people make lots of noise and cause lots of havoc is weirdly being underestimated by some people. It is a thing whether you agree with it or not.

Your outlook whilst absolutely commendable is not based in reality at all.

and I ask again, on what basis do you know the scale of the vote against Benitez? What are you basing it on, a feeling?

Exactly Nuno is a non starter. He wants to bring in between 8-10 new backroom staff.

Rafael operates on 3 of his own personal staff and is more than willing to work with the current setup.

He has an assistant manager, First team Coach and a Fitness coach. That's it.

At every club he's been at, he takes on former players of the clubs as staff.
It's all good and well Mrs Benitez, but we still can't stand your son.

But a significant portion never accepted him. Also let's not forget Chelsea have top players we do not. They drop coaches in all the time and win things.

He has some huge clubs on the CV but after the RS he’s not done anything that wasn’t expected. Fair play steadying the ship at Chelsea but sacked in 7th with treble winning Inter? Despite cup wins at Napoli he couldn’t improve their league placing and got knocked out the group stage and the qualifying rounds in the CL. Look at their squad as well at the time... Hamsik, Higuain, Mertens, Jorginho to name a few. Dropped by Madrid after half a season. These are all world class teams with world class players. I don’t see what he brings to the table with our current bunch other than maybe having us more organised and difficult to beat.

Well them usual suspects are going to pipe up when you start comparing Eddie Howe to Rafael.

Rafael took over Newcastle and had 3 full seasons and a net spend of 3mil in profit. Finished 10th and 13th, in the 2 season in the premier league. Both times above Howe’s Bournemouth.

Howe in his 5 years in the prem had a debt of something like 180mil and still couldn’t get them to defend properly.

Been talking to Benitez for about 5 days straight now haven’t we? What’s the point in holding more talks with him?
1) They're hanging the latch for somebody else?
Or
2) The tight arses aka, Bill, won't pay anybody for June if they can start him on the 1st July.
Or
3) Nobody has a scooby
I'm going with a mix of 2 and 3
