Almost 20 years ago mind, but does anyone remember his Valencia team tearing the RS apart in the Champions League. Think it finished 2-0 but should have been 10.

Aimar, Baraja and Vicente ran the show playing boss footy. Weird the way none of his teams have ever played footy like that since, the closest maybe when he was at the RS when he had Gerrard and Torres and almost won the league. Even that was 12 years ago, feel like we need an up and coming Benitez to come in not the actual Benitez.
That's because he took over an already very good Valencia team that had just reached two consecutive Champions League finals. The narrative seems to have been a bit skewed since, and made to look like he built Valencia from nothing. Granted, he deserves credit for winning two titles there, but his predecessor, Hector Cuper, built that team.

Well them usual suspects are going to pipe up when you start comparing Eddie Howe to Rafael.

Rafael took over Newcastle and had 3 full seasons and a net spend of 3mil in profit. Finished 10th and 13th, in the 2 season in the premier league. Both times above Howe’s Bournemouth.

Howe in his 5 years in the prem had a debt of something like 180mil and still couldn’t get them to defend properly.

My point was why is one dismissed "Because he has a relegation on his CV" and the other despite being a Kopite some are giving the time of day even though he also has a relegation AND in China had Dalian bottom of their group... Just seems inconsistent...

Rafael took over March 11, 2016, when he took over Newcastle were 1 point OUTSIDE the relegation zone, the bottom of the league looked like

Bournemouth 33 points
Swansea 30 points
Newcastle 25 points
Sunderland 24 points
Norwich 24 points
Aston Villa 16 points

His results

Leicester A L1-0
Sunderland H D1-1
Norwich A L3-2
Southampton A L3-1
Swansea H W3-0
Man City H D1-1
Liverpool A D2-2
Crystal Palace H W1-0
Aston Villa A D0-0
Tottenham H W5-1

Finish Table

Crystal Palace 42 points
Bournemouth 42 points
Sunderland 39 points
Newcastle 37 points
Norwich 34 points
Aston Villa 17 points

Howe is deffo also a kopite. Bournemouth used to have their World Cup finals at Goodison and the Etihad, and then turn up at Anfield and hand in a 5-0 resignation.

…’might as well give it a go’ means we’re likely to be back in this position at Christmas. Moshiri won’t want turmoil.
Well he's already got turmoil and he's as responsible as anyone for it. We're even more likely to be back in this position just as quickly if we appoint Benitez. Short of us winning our first ten games 10-0 and him pissing on a kopite shirt there is absolutely no way he works out here. He'll be gone before Dec too. At least Big Dunc is a gamble that might pay off, Benitez is guaranteed to fail. This isn't about managerial abilities anymore, no appointment could work with this much animosity against them this early on. Our players don't have the character to play in an atmosphere like we'd have with Benitez as boss, they'd flop like a jelly on a wet mattress and we'd be looking at an uphill battle to stay up.

Is it really 10mill cannot see nice paying that thought it was nearer the 4 mill mark
That's what I though mio amigo. I thought he was virtually out of the door at Lille in any case, so if a release fee has been made for one, it can be assumed that another team just has to at least match it to make the deal go through.

Roberto Martinez said he has unfinished business at Everton and has the charm to talk himself into this job. Out of all those names he is the only one I would consider but would have had to improve his defensive management in the last 5 years.
Needs to improve more than that! Our attacking play was horrible in his last season too! Martinez reign was the first time I saw this horrible sideways and backwards possession based game at Goodison that has been the worst thing about the last ten years of watching Everton.
Yes you have to switch the play sometimes, yes you can recycle the ball, go back to the CB sometimes if there’s not a good forward pass on but Martinez played that horrible possession for the sake of possession football with no cutting edge that became even worse under Koeman and then even worse still under Silva to the point where I saw Ancelotti screaming to play forward last season and players like Gomes and Sigurdsson looked like they’d had it coached out of them!

The problem with Nuno is that he's reported to only really trust Mendes clients. He apparently vetoed Wolves trying to sign a few players and instead opt for some from Mendes stable who turned out gash.

We already have too many cooks in the kitchen to be throwing in Nuno/Mendes imo.

Netto, Jota, Neves, Patricio, Semedo, Podence, and Jiminez, weren't bad buys were they, but if you think they are all gash fair enough you win.
