How can anyone criticise the club?
I mean, they allowed Don Carlo a clause that meant he could walk out with 2 years left (or £22m on his contract) and we get no compensation?
IRemember when Moyes was allowed to run down his contract and go to Man C?)
A club that has previously been subsidising the wages of the current Belgium and former Dutch manager? Who knows what Silva's deal was... (I don't see him working anywhere since being sacked 18 months ago)....

For once, given these guys are on mega bucks and contracts are essentially worthless: Give them a rolling 1 year deal. Renews automatically based on KPIs, or at the discretion of the board. Yes, we might have a manager every 11 months, but we're not far off that anyway - we'll be the Chelsea of the north, but with better sausage rolls.

Oh, and no to FSW, obviously.
Do we know we received no compo and had that clause? Or is that yet more rumours that people believe without question?

Fixed.

I think it's almost certain that it was either no compo or very low compo, hence the ease with which it all happened, and the fact he was willing to come in the first place.

Bill thought KPIs were a new flavour of KP chip sticks.

Though it will be quite some achievement if they announce Nuno as manager with some acclaim after this storm, when he had a 69% disapproval rating barely more than a week ago.

Ancelotti was here as a stop-gap until the next glamour gig came along.

If you exclude those looking for another short-term pay-day, then it seems we are simply not an attractive proposition to a manager of substance.

The longer it's gone on the calmer I've become tbh.

Think if it was someone like Rafael / Nuno / Howe, they'd all be super keen to join Everton and it would be sewn up already.

Think we are going for someone a bit more outside the box, which we absolutely should do at this point. We cannot go for people living on past-glories, reputation, or take yet another manager completed his Everton exam that is taking one of those teams a level or two below us to like 7/8th in the table.
I've said or rater hoped for this all along, that they will pull a rabbit out of the hat with an announcement that will be a surprise but agreeable to most of us.
At the end of it all though we are Everton and I expect us to be disappointed.

A chara @Neiler gotta agree with @Lanolin here. A safe pair of hands would be Moyes or Favre both far better than a washed up redshoite manager who'd have been divisive straight away and could never have worked out. We know nothing about manager hunt, media know nothing we're a closed shop regarding manager searches. If i remember it was this forum that 1st found out about Carlo the media followed of us. For all moshiris faults he cant be accused of not backing us financially nobody expected carlo and the wages he was on at Everton. Let the media down play us as little Everton they know nothing and our 1st team aren't as bad as everyone likes to think, fix the righthand side which we were always going to do this summer and a ball carrying midfielder with a new manager we'll be good we're not as bad as others would have us believe.

My read of this is the agendas of the owner and fans arent in alignment.

What i believe is the owner wants a safe pair of hands for the next 2 to 3 years, he will be working on stadium finance and a large part of reassuring investors and financial institutions to invest in the new ground will be the promise of staying in the PL with a safe pair of hands and walk into that stadium with guaranteed PL football. From that point of view this appointment is going to be underwhelming given what is available. Rafael offers all of that and is a company man - there is a lot to like about him from the owners point of view.

Then we have the fans, who would abhor Rafael, want short term success and on the field progression, preferably in an exotic creative way making super duper signings.

The two twains wont meet, in fact even a compromise may be undermining and neither goals achieved.

The verdict is, we are in for a very divisive and messy time as a club, baton down the hatches Blues.
While I understand exactly what you're looking to say I think you're mistaken that the fans want immediate success. Since Martinez this club has repeatedly chosen the wrong option and basically gone for the flavor of the month. We have no long-term goal we have no long-term plans except for the new stadium, we have no idea of some kind of playing style we want. We constantly choose a manager, back him with players usually then he gets fired and we choose another manager with a completely different system. It's absolutely madness to continue down this road and think that's not a massive issue.

Defo waiting on some international managers. Reckon Brands rubs one off to Southgate's double pivot, Bill is obviously still in love with Martinez and Moshiri just wants the most famous name he's heard of.

There are only really two viable ones though, Mancini and Deschamps, both will be hard to get away from International management. Martinez would be a third but obviously that wont happen.

Other than that International management is littered with journeymen who cant get top jobs or elder statesmen who probably enjoy the less hectic schedule.

I think right now the fans just want an identity.

This is who we are, this is were we want to be and this is how we intend to do it type of thing.

I would love Bielsa, but someone made a point once that because of how intense his playing style is, very little of our current squad would be able to adapt.

What you think
Siggy, gomes, iwobi, keane, davis, james, mobile?? All regular starters for us. Not a chance. I think that style would suit everton and goodison and it's what we need but that would mean a change in identity and playing staff from recent years of defensive, possession play that martinez tried to being in.

I don't believe Talksport have a clue what is going on in the boardroom.

I think they jumped the gun with their story that Rafael was about to be appointed manager when I think the truth probably is that he had been brought in for discussions along with a number of other managers , some of whom we know, others probably that we don't know.

I think Benitez is as much in the running or out of the running as he ever was.
I think there are managers that would be preferred ahead of him but that there others that he is ahead such as Potter, Dyche and Howe. I think whoever is appointed will have a higher profile than those I just mentioned and have won trophies in the past... recent or distant.
Benitez, apart from the Liverpool connection, I think would have been a cast iron certainty as it would have been Carlo mark 2 with a far less chance of him ever leaving.

Galtier still has not joined another club and I can still cling to the hope of Conte and fall back on the argument that nobody believed we could get CA.
I think Nuno must have fallen out of favour as I think if he was the preferred choice he would already be here by now.

I really would not be surprised if in the next couple of days a completely new name crops up and gets appointed quickly . I am guessing that there is a small select group involved in the discussions and that very little information will be leaked from them so I really don't pay much attention to headline stories about who is in the race or out.
