That underlines in spades that he'd stay under Benitez. He's saying he steps up and becomes loyal to whoever is in the manager's seat and he cant get his head around not giving that loyalty and he cant get his head around fans booing a manager even when they win because they dont like them.

Did he look into why the fans didn’t like him? I didn’t like him because his ego is repulsive.

The thing is, I don't think people believe this is true...
There are other managers available whose methods are more progressive, who are hungry to win and who have a track record of success in the last ten years. Some of these managers will not drive a wedge between the fans, and between the fans and the board. Some of these managers will not bring a defensive style to the club. Some of these managers will not make the club difficult to whole heartedly support.
I really believe that is the issue
Do we know for certain there was better available though?
Some may not of wanted the job and others may have interviewed badly.
Benitez may have been 10th on our list but the 9 ahead of him we're excluded due to the above.
As fans we will never know. The club will never admit it and say he was the 1st choice all along.

From that it looks like it didn't matter what the manager's faults are: he'll back them.

I said in the thread on Ferguson that this appointment presents a dilemma for him: if he backs Benitez and works for him, it'll sicken a lot of the fans who give him the status he enjoys; if he leaves and tries his hand elsewhere in the hope of coming back as manager, he risks his future income.

I'm just hoping the plan is to appoint Benitez as 'a safe pair of hands' for a couple of seasons and hope to get some European footie along the way. I'm hoping that having someone like him in, although not showing a great deal of ambition, will allow us to get our shat together and have a clear plan and build towards a footballing identity.
Let Brands get rid of the deadwood and replace with younger, hungrier players that fit a philosophy that we want moving forwards. Benitez to have very little say in transfers. Then replace him with a coach that is a better fit.
Things don't change overnight and it doesn't often end well when managers try to change too much too soon. With the squad we have, playing quick, attacking footie and pressing high probably wouldn't end well..we just don't have the players.

Probably giving the board too much credit thinking they have a plan like that in place though.

Perhaps he’s best saying nothing and getting on with it. Personally I find it a little odd, with his managerial aspirations at some point, why he’s seen as a necessity for any manager coming here. Why doesn’t he go out there, get a bit of experience. Unsworth too.

I dont think he can leave, who is going to give him a good job? His love of Everton is his drive, that isnt going to help him at other clubs. He might lose his current job, they will just find another for him.

2.203 pages so far and still no manager announcement.

I was a blue before Kenwright was Chairman, before Ferguson played for us and before Moshri arrived - I'll always be a Blue and confident that I'll still be when the three have left the club.

If it does go to Benitez, I won't be happy but he'll be the manager of My club and I'll give him a decent chance. He won't still be at Everton in ten years time but I will.

Surly Spurs fans would have been expecting better than a manager that got sacked and finished well behind them in the league last year and have possibly gone from the chosen one to Nuno, it seems it’s not as easy as some think , it may be Levy but don’t tell me Spurs don’t pay well
