According to the echo Brands has encountered over 40 applicants sounding out interest over the job. I know it's the echo but that supports what the mail reported where its seems like this process is far from over and there might be some thoroughness applied. So the moyes vs. Nuno narrative thankfully seems premature.

I for one hope this is resolved quickly and doesn’t drag on for weeks. I know it’s imperative we get the right person but we also need to be planning for recruitment. We simply CANNOT be heading into the new season with this same crop of crap starting games for us, it just can’t happen. May as well write the season off if that’s the case.

It is not even in the offing

Read my post again, I said I’d go for Conte first and foremost.

The rest of my post read, I’m dreading Nuno or Howe because I think they’ll relegate us with the gash we’ve got in our squad.

The relegation shout is ridiculous. You needed 29 points to stay up this year. We aren't doing anything anytime soon but we aren't going down either

I mean, i entirely agree, for what it's worth.

Moshiri isn't pushing for Moyes, is he? But if papers are to be believed, he's pushing for Nuno, so where does that leave us?

Again, spot on, if we're not getting someone who's a cut above the rest like Rangnick, then we need to be giving Brands this choice. Surely Brands can't be on board with Moyes or Nuno? Give him the scope because so far since Martinez, we've got it wrong every time.

yeah I cant believe Brand will be on board with Moyes, potentially Nuno, but thats a stretch considering names he has pushed in the past including bringing Gallardo into the convo before Ancelotti.

He needs to have this decision to prove he can actually do this, imo, let him live or die by it but the club need to leave this in his remit to find the right candidate not having another manager pushed on him.

But under Moyes, we were hitting sub 30,000 for games, the football was turgid, uninspiring stuff, the fans fell out of love with him, long before he left, but apparently absence makes the heart grow fonder is definitely the case here.
That’s an absolute lie.The only time we’d have dropped below 30k is a midweek League Cup game.

The football we played at times was good, especially around the time of the UEFA cup run.

I don’t want him back but let’s not make things up please.

I agree but there has to be a balance where it's not a protracted endless saga and we're not being impetuous where we end up with another mediocre appointment that impedes any possibility of progress. But definitely need to get it sorted soon so we can initiate a proper recruitment process

More concerned about transfer requests from our better players.

We have 2 or 3 decent strikers on our books, 3 decent centrebacks 3 decent midfielders, a decent left back - it's understandable people are disappointed but leaping straight to worries of relegation is a bit panicky. It's the perfect time to lose a manager and it seems we aren't broke so maybe an opportunity to put the last 5 years behind us ? (and some of the less successful players)

One of my reservations with Nuno is how hungry is he really for the job. We need managers with some to prove like Moyes had when he first arrived. He threw everything into it and the players bought into that. Since then there’s never been that feeling. All the managers have either had one eye on another job or just seemed weary to be here. Would Nuno have the commitment to Everton so recently after Wolves or is this just Silva and Koeman all over again.
Yeah same concern for me. I’ve said for years, we need someone who gives us an identity, and who sort of becomes synonymous with the club for a while. The type of manager that pretty much the entire fan base gets behind. I thought silva might do it but that second brands summer ruined the chances of that. I think Nuno would be a ‘safe’ appointment, he’d probably get us higher in the table than ancelotti, but I just don’t really think he’s the type of manager that’s going to spark a revival or excite the fans (long term I mean, not just the actual appointment). The only PL option with a chance of doing it is potter, otherwise it has to be a ten Haag, galtier, conceicao etc.
