Howe has your fabled "Premiership experience" too tho. He has more than Potter actually. By your criteria Potter should be the one out the door.
No as Potter has been successful in his two previous roles whereas Howe has only really done it at Brighton. Maybe I am being too hard on Howe because Brighton went down but it does seem to have echoes of Roberto Martinez. Anyway I don’t think it will be either of these two so it’s a mute point

I agree but there has to be a balance where it's not a protracted endless saga and we're not being impetuous where we end up with another mediocre appointment that impedes any possibility of progress. But definitely need to get it sorted soon so we can initiate a proper recruitment process

My hope is we knew Carlo would be going the moment Madrid approached him and we started planning in advance. My head and previous experience tells me we still aren’t even aware he’s gone and can’t understand why he’s not picking up his calls lol

That’s an absolute lie.The only time we’d have dropped below 30k is a midweek League Cup game.

The football we played at times was good, especially around the time of the UEFA cup run.

I don’t want him back but let’s not make things up please.

Wasn't though, was it?

Lets not act like children now.

Also, for what i'm saying isn't that we weren't good at any stage, it's towards the end, we'd all got bored of what was being served up.

The mind is excellent thing, in that it can block out loads of the bad stuff, but remembers positives. Moyes football towards the end was absolutely dire.

But how crazy is it that two of our managers went on to manage Barcelona and Real Madrid
Add the number 1 ranked national team in the world to that.
At least we can put that as a positive to prospective managers. Just goes to show though, Everton need a different beast to the serial winners we keep craving for. We are club that needs to buy players on the up not over spend on on onternationals past their peak and not up for the fight. We are looking like a QPR project. Chucking money at “names” without a plan.

Moyes will always be linked with us but I wouldn't have him back. His away record alone against the top 4 as it was then would immediately rule him out for me. It would be more of the same and an attitude that we shouldn't expect to compete in certain games and against certain opposition. It would take Moshiri's "expected defeat" to another level. We had years of that mentality. If his spell here wasn't as long, it wouldn't have been as much of an issue but it would be a burden on us again.

Conversely, I wouldn't be against Martinez as his tenure was much shorter here and he has given us our best season in more than a generation. I'd hope he would have learnt lessons and he has gone on to work and do well with some world-class players in Belgium. His standing is good in the game and he has age on his side for a longer stint. He had also been technical director for Belgium and that experience would be beneficial for us.

I wouldn't mind a modern version of Moyes with the same initial hunger and vigour but not Moyes himself. I wonder if Potter would fit that bill, I think I'd certainly prefer him over NES.

Not great timing to get Martinez now, but I think it would be doable if we contacted his people and put an agreement in place.

Does nuno still have his ties to mendes? Or was it more someone higher up at wolves had ties with mendes?

They brought some decent players in between them.... Neto, jota, podence, ait nouri, semedo, neves, dendoker, jiminez and I think that fabio silva will be decent. Most of them players listed would improve Everton.

I mean, i entirely agree, for what it's worth.

Moshiri isn't pushing for Moyes, is he? But if papers are to be believed, he's pushing for Nuno, so where does that leave us?

Again, spot on, if we're not getting someone who's a cut above the rest like Rangnick, then we need to be giving Brands this choice. Surely Brands can't be on board with Moyes or Nuno? Give him the scope because so far since Martinez, we've got it wrong every time.
Rangnick was my choice, I think he would work well with Brands, who needs to carry on without any interference from other board members including the owner, he knows about football, the others don’t.

The list is uninspiring, but wasn't Moyes football?

I think everyone is like a wounded animal, and we're all struggling and will take what we can take at the moment.

But under Moyes, we were hitting sub 30,000 for games, the football was turgid, uninspiring stuff, the fans fell out of love with him, long before he left, but apparently absence makes the heart grow fonder is definitely the case here.

Whether he'd come back or not, I just don't see a manager who's had one good season in 10 seasons since he's left as a progressive manager, or one we should be identifying as a good one.

It was a bit more than one good season in 10. We finished 7th or above quite a few times which considering the net spend was good at the time. We’ve only had two seasons since of 7th or above and in both of those we had Lukaku a player Moyes never had the funds to sign.

He’s derided for losing a cup final but I can’t remember any of other managers getting anywhere near one.

I wouldn’t be adverse at all to giving him a few seasons to sweep the decks, get a bit of fight back in the team, get us back into Europe. If Ancelotti had done that we’d all have been pleased at good progress, yet if Moyes makes Europe there’s an expectation that he’s never going to take it any further (despite being our only manager to break the top 4).

Our financial outlook has changed. Moyes was denied 10 million to get Landon Donovan permanently. He had to sell Yakubu Saha Arteta and loan in Drenthe Stracqualursi. Sell Rodwell to try and get Jelavic. Now he’d have almost whatever funds he wanted for any player. So if he can get us European football on a shoe string in the past, why would we expect turgid seasons from him on a bigger budget?

We were playing some cracking stuff in Moyes last season.

Ragnick comes up every time we are linked with a new manager but never comes here. Does he ever get linked to other clubs? Keep hearing about how great he is but don’t see him linked with any other PL clubs.

Away record v last seasons home record. Jeez. Imagine a packed Goodison watching the bottom half of the league turn us over all season.
Fact is, retrospectively, that Moyes would have been better than ancelotti last season. Unfortunately, myself included would have been thinking “ imagine if we got ancelotti though”

Read it again. I said he's had one good season, in his last 10 seasons, since he left.

Can anyone explain to me why I should be so excited about this fella from Argentina Gallardo? Genuine question
He’s young, hungry, tactically brilliant in how he sets his teams up. He’s innovative in his approach to coaching

He’s won everything in South America on a very small budget.
There’s nothing left to win there!

He is worshipped like a god by the players and fans alike.

He has all the attributes and more to make him a success in the EPL

1 game straight after New Year in mid week against Bolton.

Yeah you’ve won that argument pal…
