I put my hands up to supporting Martinez for a few months too long.
I didn’t make the same mistake twice with regard to Silva.
Both are decent fellas though.
Shamefully I was sad that we let Martinez go, guy meant well but he just steadfast refused to adapt his tactics and paid the price

Koeman, Allardyce and Silva I was actively celebrating when they were sacked however

Martinez, Koeman and Silva all made mistakes that weren't "couldn't handle the pressure." I don't know maybe it is easier to think that it is something simple like that but it wasn't for any of them. Silva not understanding that his pressing system wasn't actually functional without a world class midfielder covering like Gueye did had nothing to do with Goodison getting rowdy for example. Or Koeman buying a bunch of "#10s" who weren't actually any good had nothing to do with the Park End booing at halftime.

The problem is bad managers who don't have a plan that aligns with the DOF buying players which leads to bad recruitment and ends up in a complete mess. Not pressure.

Mate, with respect, you went down this "never been there but" rabbit hole about Goodison in the stadium thread.

I will make it easy for you. You do not have a clue. And until you go, you never will.

I can’t see how you progress in the modern game without this model.

I’ve not seen the stats on it, but it certainly seems like managers’ tenures are getting shorter and shorter.

Someone has to be there to offer continuity.
But then it also doesn't work if the DoF is utter balls...

Martinez's first season was just amazing until the last few games where he could not get us 4th place....we smashed Arsenal at home but lost out to them for 4th.
If Martinez knew how to defend properly we could have kicked on.

It's fine, keep telling yourselves we're special, one day it might be true again.

The atmosphere end of Silva's reign was the worst I've ever sat through I think. Was toxic as balls for 90 mins.
I was at the game we lost at home to Norwich, me and my Dad spent the whole drive home predicting who our next manager would be before there had even been a whiff of Silva on the way out in the media. When Goodison turns in the first half the very least you need to do is send the team out with balls to attack hard in the second half. If, as a manager, you send your players out to play the same turgid slow build up in the second half then you’ve lost the fans, game over, you’re getting sacked, you didn’t understand managing Everton.

If he wants the job, then its pretty simple....he needs to quit now, and go prove himself as a manager elsewhere....any expectation that his first job can be Everton is delusional...

And if he does leave, pretty sure we'll never see him back at our club again....and i think he knows that himself
I'm astounded how many grown men are conned by Ferguson. He is quite obviously playing this club.

We’re saying the crowd at Goodison is special. I’ve been to around 20 premier league grounds (some no longer premier league but were at the time) and none of them have felt the same. If you’ve not been when tempers are high, you don’t know.

I’d argue that he’s not been allowed to be a DoF, but I guess either way, the model hasn’t worked the way it should work at Everton so far.
Yeh, my comment was more in general for the role. It's popular to get rid of several managers, but it could quite often be that the DoF is the rotten cog in the system... They're usually the ones that have limited Football experience but generally bring players in based on their contacts.

Hopefully we'll get an announcement early next week. I just don't want it to drag on for weeks which is something we've done in the past

*sigh*

I didnt. I said that being able to deal with a Goodison crowd is a factor to consider for a new manager. But you, (who has never been there), knows better.

And like I said, many many ex footballers, (who have played there), agreed.

If Brands chooses or doesn't choose the manager based on a guess of how he'll deal with our crowd we deserve what we get.
