New Everton Stadium

Since 1999 we have been told we have no money to afford the stadium alone

Now we have Farhad a multi billionaire who promised us everything he's got.

One year on still no sign of a new stadium? So what's the excuse now?

We have earmarked many sites since 1999 all fell through because of funding so what's the issue? We now have the cash and we already know what the best sites are

Until this stadium is built and generating extra income we can never compete

I absolutely despair

So let's get things into perspective here. 2007 they announced they were looking at options for a new stadium. They announced their plans (subject to Planning Permission) in October 2008. Permission was finally granted in late 2011 (source: Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tottenham_Hotspur_F.C.#Northumberland_Development_Project ). So, can we have a bit of a reality check with regard to "if the announcement isn't made at the AGM we should fuel the plane" etc. I just don't get how people expect the design to be done, all the plans sorted and spades to be in the ground as soon as possible. Get a grip.

That timescale was for our first design, which was scrapped (our Kirby if you like, although still on the same site).

After that was scrapped we went on a wild goose chase to try to win the Olympic Stadium site, which (thankfully) failed. The first we heard of the new White Hart Lane stadium project being back on was in 2012/3 iirc.

The new design for that was revealed in July 2015, planning permission gained in December with the build starting more or less this year (I say more or less as the basement was a separate planning app). But that was a quick approval because a lot of the issues had already been ironed out with the first (scrapped) scheme. We already had permission for a big new stadium on that site, so a change in design and relatively small increase in capacity from the first scheme wasn't the biggest hurdle to overcome.

You're completely right to say this is a long process though. People expecting timescales of weeks rather than months or even years need to realise that! It seems to me Moshiri hired an architect almost as soon as he became properly involved in the club. It looks like things are moving quickly to me. Not that that means it's a definite goer, but patience is required.

Very true mate, however I would say Evertonians have been the most patient fans in the league(although I am biased:))a ground move was first mooted in 1996,yes 1996,twenty years ago:)

Did having to get all those local businesses to agree to move extend the process, or do the above dates take place after all that?

Given we only have one existing land owner to deal with, you'd hope that aspect should be easy enough.

Only the last one was a problem, and that ended up going through legal appeals and was sat on Eric Pickles' desk for 18 months (finally resolved in the High Court Feb 2015). So possibly that extended it. That said, the NFL partnership wasn't tied down till 2015 either, so it might be that the CPO on that last remaining business actually had no effect. Not quite sure. It depends how dependent we were on that NFL deal happening for the stadium to be built, and I don't know the answer to that (probably only Levy knows).
