New Everton Stadium

Have to say I don't mind watching the match with my dad at pitch level... but you are right a bit higher up and a better all round view would be nice

It may well be set by the position of the pitch. With City the pitch is lower than the entry level, meaning that the disabled section is at an elevated level. I'd be surprised if some use of the already existing hole wasn't used, if of course it can be due to the water table.

Yep, you're right mate, I think Aintree was looked at in the mid 1960's potential groundshare with the RS,but then nothing was looked at again til the Peter Johnson regime.
First place mentioned was Canning place from what i recall,I remember the shouts for shared stadium at the race course,Johnson from what I remember was Kirkby golf course, then wasnt there a plan for Cronton?

This really needs to happen. It's the only way that we will progress. Knowing Everton it will probably get stopped because someone is worried that knocking down a wall might hurt the feelings of the slaves that were forced to build it under duress, and who probably aren't even alive anymore.

Very true mate, however I would say Evertonians have been the most patient fans in the league(although I am biased:))a ground move was first mooted in 1996,yes 1996,twenty years ago:)
I went on a tour of the stadium around 1996. I asked the young woman taking us around why they had not built something bigger on the Park End. "Because we are moving so it would not have been worth it" was her reply. No fuss or bother in her voice just the received wisdom around the club at the time. It was used as a reason/excuse to do little or nothing to Goodison for a generation. Not ITK in any way so not calling PJ out over it either but for all the talk very little action either.

Went to the Derby with a lad who would still prefer to redevelop Goodison. He made a really good case. I have recently come round to a move because of the location and the dream that this Dan Meis guy might pull off something brilliant. But I have to say that if the new stadium, if it comes off, cannot replicate the brilliant atmosphere of Goodison at its best (and I would say that the welcome on the pitch on Monday and the first half were well up there) I will die of a broken heart.....
In Meis we trust!!

The Park End build was a disgrace. It is cheap, out of context with the rest of the ground and betrays Goodison's pioneering history. Many clubs have built and moved or even rebuilt stands since 1996, the heirarchy's record on stadium mgmt is abysmal.

So the word steep was brought up by Dan Meis. The main reason why the Gwladys Street is a better atmosphere than the new Park End for example is because it is shallower and fans are closer together. Shallowness also encourages more standing so you get more of a terrace feel.

I understand it's not for everyone so I'm talking End Stands only, and that sightlines do have to be an improvement on the Gwladys St but to purposely go steep anyway rather than hitting your targets for sightlines will just be unnecessary and affect the atmosphere.

He should have had his ticket at the back of the Street End.

Steeper it is also restricts your potential for expansion though there's a good chance that it will not be able to expand anyway.

I get what you are saying regarding a shallow rake and I quite like it at the GS though we shouldn't be selling the seats at the back as the views are unnaceptable. I wonder if it's a case of familiarity though as I have to say I'd quite like a massive steep stand behind the goal. Below is Juve's lower rake compared to the St End and I reckon theirs looks more intimidating. I know Tom Hughes is his work on designs states that we should aim for a mixture of different types of seating, in part to recreate the feel we have at GP and I'd love us to go down that route. I can't see many new footy stadia being built with a shallow rake these days, it takes up too much space.

It could be even noisier under one roof.
