With athletics, there's always this demand that the seating hugs the track curves. Yet no concession is made to the decades of poor views the subsequent football fans will suffer. The ground won't have a running track in to start with, Meis has confirmed via twitter that it can be adapted and then removed for the event

In an ideal world I'd keep Goodison when we move to our new home, see how it pans out for 5-6 years,if we don't like it,we move back....simpleslolThe Etihad was a great job in terms of converting from athletics to football and getting fans relatively close to the pitch, but it's still more than a bit crap. Terrible atmosphere.
Grounds like Goodison are what makes the premier league and English football special and new stadiums should always seek to put history and atmosphere first in their design. For me, being an Evertonian wouldn't feel quite the same if we lost the atmosphere that intimidates opponents and referees so just to save money. I love the Goodison Fume. There's nothing on earth like it and I believe we'll lose it in a stadium with curved stands like the Etihad. Something like what Spurs are doing would be great.

Promised al kinds hasn't he? Bestway site, WHP, now he's 'got' the BM dock site.Mayor Joe?
Yep,agreed, they would only lower the tonelolOr keep Goodison just for the Derbies then we don't have to let them horrible cretins anywhere near our shiney new world class stadium
Assuming your stadium is the centrepiece of the CWG, and assuming the track is temporary (i.e. no retractable seating) it seems there are two real options...
1. Etihad solution - Whether this would necessarily lead to any compromises in the closeness to the pitch I'm not sure. Dan Meis has mentioned this stadium before in his Tweets when athletics has been brought up, so perhaps he's been looking and learning from it - seeing what was done well and what wasn't? Timsescales wouldn't be completely ideal obviously but better than 2026.
2. Hampden solution - Athletics platform over the lower tier would severely reduce capacity for the CWGs unless the stadium is ovular or a huge capacity to begin with, but it should definitely work. Los Angeles is planning similar for its 2024 Olympic bid.
One thing which hasn't been mentioned: It takes a while to install these platforms - Hampden was closed for a season and their platform was almost certainly easier to install as the stadium was already a good shape for it (see http://www.insidethegames.biz/artic...se-for-one-year-for-glasgow-2014-preparations). So it might be that you wait till after the Games to move in, or you move out for a season soon after moving in. Maybe keep Goodison standing for this potential season away? Or maybe even a season at Anfield?
Maybe we're adding 2+2 together and getting 5 and your stadium won't be hosting the athletics, but it's all very intruiging anyway. Things seem to be converging almost too conveniently.
But all there day trippers will want to take photos of our new shiny stadium.Or keep Goodison just for the Derbies then we don't have to let them horrible cretins anywhere near our shiney new world class stadium

Hmmm.
It'd be the first one yet that transforms successfully from a track to a stands-near-the-touchline football stadium.
