New Everton Stadium

Friends arena Stockholm looks amazing. 50 000 capacity. Anyone been?

I have been there several times. Feels more like a living room then an arena. Not very good acoustic either. Would prefer much more open sky both for atmosphere and for the good of the grass, they have had to change grass several times because it's to dark in there.

Matches against the RS, city and united would easily fill a 50000 seater stadium. Add in the fact the likes of arsenal and spurs having a bigger away allocation (they are well supported away from home) would I guess see us get gates of 45000+. Playing the likes of stoke, QPR and palace and we would do well to get 40000+. I think an average attendance of 45000 is achievable with a sensible pricing structure. Our match day income wouldn't increase by that much in football terms, however are appeal to potential investors certainly would.

We can and will fill a 50k stadium more often than people think. Less obstructed views.

More interest and easier transport in and out the ground.

Agree with all of that except the transport bit. GP is nearer to lots more bus routes and is walking distance from Sandhills and Kirkdale stations, as well as being about a mile nearer town.

If you look at the biggest wealthiest clubs the amount of income earned from the ordinary supporter going through the turnstiles as a percentage of overall turnover is surprisingly low.

Until we see what kind of facilities are proposed for this new stadium that we may or may not have it will be very difficult to quantify.
The additional revenue from games is primary school maths.
How many corporate boxes will be available and at what price.
What corporate and catering facilities will be available . During the midweek when there is no football what revenues will the ground be able to earn ?
Will the ground be suitable for concerts ?

At the moment it is fun to consider the ramifications a new stadium has for the club, but it's potential earning power can only be guessed at.
I saw Croke Park in Dublin mentioned in this or another thread.
Earlier this year there were five Garth Brooks concerts planned for that venue. The concerts disastrously were cancelled at a very late stage. But it appears that if the had gone ahead the GAA(owners of the grounds) stood to earn 5 millions Euro.
Bill Kenwright is very successful in the entertainment business and I would expect his only too well aware of the earning power that a new stadium could provide.

I think any new stadium we will have built will be with one eye at being able to provide income streams away from football completely.

This will mean a more expensive stadium. Only with outside help is that possible...Everton can't fund it. You can also probably forget the traditional 4 sides atmosphere-friendly stadium that being the case I would say as well.
It will interesting to see the plans..please no on-the-cheap Kirkby Mk2 shed... please

The actual seat and pitch bit of a stadium is probably the simplest and cheapest bit to do. It's just steel and concrete, with some good acoustic design there's no reason a Kirkby bowl couldn't produce a decent atmosphere (obviously not exactly like Kirkby, that wasn't great). The cost comes with all the other stuff in stadiums, function rooms, boxes, other corporate facilities. We need these really to really push on, but it's something that has to give if money is tight.

It definitely will be interesting to see the plans if/when they come out

How are we going to get outside football revenue then if we go on the cheap and don't have these?

Not looked at the last few pages but how about this?
Lets go the whole hog with a new stadium and get one built with a retractable roof and one that they can switch the pitches then they can please the fans and Rob Elstone (knowing about his love of rugby) and have football matches one day and rugby the next. Or how about an ice rink, does Liverpool have an ice hockey team?
Just need to get a rugby team on board and an ice hockey team and hey presto shared joint incomes, throw in a few WWF nights and a few other shows like an off season run of blood brothers or Joesph and we would be rolling in it......
Oh wait a mo, didn't we have all this talk when they talked about the Kings Dock?
