New Everton Stadium

Anyone see Meis's tweet regarding bars being "smaller in London"

Am I being a nut job here or is he hinting at our stadia being bigger than London clubs?

Can't agree more with this. A new, iconic design will become immersed in Evertonia almost immediately due to its importance and it's right that we look forwards not back.

It doesn't mean we're ditching the tower, of course we're not, but it's place is on the badge not on stadium blueprints. As for the liver bird it's very divisive but I wouldn't be surprised if there was something on site just as a nod to that history, but nothing more than that.

In terms of Everton stadiums there is only really one piece of iconography that springs to mind and I'm sure it can be reproduced somewhere within BMD, and that is Leitch's ironwork. Every Goodison Giant has been pictured in action with it in the background and I'm certain Meis will use it.
Don't forget the old Main Stand gable that's in my avatar!

If full cabinet consent is given today the next stages are a series of legal deliberations on the propriety of the proposed deal and the feasibility of the project for the area.

The Echo are being very unhelpful here suggesting everything now rolls forward to borrowing on the open market for a build. It's not at that stage. That's reckless talk from that rag...as per.

Great news regarding cabinet approval.

I have been critical of some of Joe Anderson's twitter contributions in the run-up to last week's announcement but he is also due a great deal of credit for bringing the council with him on this. Well done Joe.
It would be very difficult saying no to an extra four million quid a year for doing practicality nothing.
