New Everton Stadium

I REALLY hope that wasn't the plan (banking on the CWG) as it would place Moshiri et al in a very poor light. Most people knew we had only an outside chance to be the favoured City, so that sounds like a frighteningly back-of-a-cigarette-packet scheme. Are we now in the position of scraping around looking for the right number of investors? Unreal if so.

The 2022 CWG were only a possibility after the stadium was a goer. Even the 2026 CWG were a remote possibility. There's no way funding would have been secured on the back of a remote possibility of something that won't be announced for another 2 years anyway.

The stadium is not, and never has been dependant on any CWG bid.

...or something else entirely....which is why we need some clarification, as many are beginning to believe this thing now looks dead in the water.

A few, maybe. But they generally have no idea what needs to be done. The people working on it aren't panicking.

Anxiety due to our past failings is completely understandable, but that is a million miles away from not happening, like you admitted yourself.

No one would be interested in hearing what happens on a daily basis regarding the stadium, we just need to show patience, we've waited since 1996 so what is a year or two here.
It feels like something has slowed down or stopped this scheme, possibly for the time being. It's the only explanation. I'd like to know what that 'something' is, tbh.

I'd love a new stadium that has a great atmosphere generated from a large crowd, is in a great location and has a great team playing in it and is being utilised well by a well run club on match and non-match days.

I'm sure Everton would too. I think in those broad terms a lot of Evertonians want the same, even ones reluctant to leave Goodison Park.

There are plenty of things that need doing before this: finance, design, planning permissions, contracts, procurement, etc. Why would Everton not be shouting from the rafters about this project and explaining where they are in this project? It's a prestigious thing to do - we know the stages all take time, a timely statement on the official site would remove our criticism against silence. The statement wouldn't necessarily have to go into too much detail to satisfy.

Oh Everton you do make me worry sometimes.

....it's not a funding plan that's stopped the project then...so what has? Genuine question, one made on behalf of others not just me. It's obvious there's an element of concern and nervousness over the delay in presenting any more information for this stadium scheme. I was told its "imminent" by another poster on here, if that's the case then that sorts out any any concerns. Until then though...

In the lead up to a planning application submission and completion of stage 3, there is an absolute shed load of work to do. The people involved will be far too busy to be releasing tidbits to keep Everton fans informed.

At that stage they know detailed information about usages, structural demand, costs. All the progress over the past 3 months or whatever will be fairly boring stuff that the general public couldn't give a toss about. Unless you want a press release on heat gains, cooling loads and the U-value of a specific facade system. Maybe the affect of specific materials on sonic performance really floats your boat.

I believe that the application is due to be submitted in December. As always, these thing may slip a bit, but, it could also lead to a significant 'leak' a little earlier than that.

There will be plenty of work happening between now and then.
