New Everton Stadium

Its clear Moshri’s not in this for the money, he’s already getting close to having wasted any profit he’d hope to make and a huge % of what he’s allegedly worth.

He’s fronting Usmanov’s toy and once Usmanov joins him we’ll reap the rewards of Usmanov and Moshri using us as something of a status symbol.

If that is the case, is there a problem with that?

Typical Dave post, all speculation no fact. Perennial negative. I have in the past asked Dave what did he want Mosh to do but never get a decent response with out slagging off.

...yep, @davek might be right and is much smarter than me, but his argument doesn’t seem logical to my naive mind. Dave reckons (I think) that Moshiri will sell up once the ground is built making himself a bundle and saddling the club with chronic debt. But surely there are are simpler and quicker ways for a bloke of his age to make money rather than overseee the complicated governance and timescales of a stadium build.

Also, how will he sell his shares at a massive profit when his successor will know the club’s level of debt.

It is only when the stadium is completed that the opportunity to create a huge capital gain exists.
It is a question of ambition and confidence.

Look at Man City or Chelsea. The investment has been large, but what are they worth today ? I would guess that there would be a substantial capital gain to be made on their disposal.

Everton is similar, why undertake all the worry and difficult in building a new stadium and hopefully building a successful team and then sell it on so that somebody else can reap the benefits.
It's not as if whatever debt the club will be carrying will be ignored, all of that will be factored into the selling price.

The real money to be made is to get the stadium built and for the club to win a premiership and play in the CL every year , if he wants to make real money that is the ambition.

The real money to be made is to do with getting on the inside track of everything that's going to happen in the area west of the city centre in the future. The potential for extensive redevelopment of the area is massive. That's what makes the new stadium there a must. Moshiri/Usmanov will already be mobilising the vast wealth within the City (London that is) to profit from the development.

I would agree with you about the other opportunities that may exist in the area... but they are different projects.
Moshiri has come to Everton to make money, not because he is a life long fan. It is how he goes about doing that... it is the other project that probably brought him to Everton however.

..that makes sense. And I guess it’s not only the money. I imagine these blokes have massive ego’s and there’s nothing quite like owning a successful English Premier League club to raise your profile.

DaveK and facts are not from the same galaxy, he has made loads of assertions and when asked to back up the facts he goes silent cause his got nothing.

Last time I engaged with him he said it would definitely get called in and when asked by who and why there was nothing.

I wouldn’t believe anything DaveK says on this subject until he provides sources and facts as what he says is nothing more than opinion passed off as facts then winds back when challenged. He seems to have blagged a few on here but hey ho that’s opinions for u

The silence is a concern, particularly Meis although I guess the funding plan with LCC has delayed any big reveal from him. That BMD page on his web site is in a state of inertia, but the wording still gets your heart pumping. The stadium principles process running to Feb 23rd probably means we won't hear much more until March - might just be a PR exercise, but one they have to conduct regardless. Confirmation of the funding from the council would be nice as I think it will be all systems go from there. Planning I don't think will be a problem in that area at all. I'm staying positive as this is the closest we have ever been to a new stadium coming to fruition. No point drowning in negativity - the season's been hard enough.

I just like the idea that some people think a buyer will pay 900 million more for Everton if someone builds a 500 million stadium.

I also like the idea that you think billionaires just buy football clubs to make money. From the dawn of time men have been competing with friends and enemies alike, with armies, with companies, and these days with sports. When you have billions of dollars, you have everything you need. From that point, its about "winning", beating out your friends, family, enemies and anyone else in the competition of business. When you go to your party full of billionaires and they brag about their football clubs, you buy one so that you can beat theirs and brag about it at parties. It really is about basic human ego, it doesnt go away whether you have 10k, or 10 billion.

I cant see him being in it solely to make money, I think its an ego thing.
It reminds me of the old saying, 'the only way to make a small fortune in football is to start with a large fortune'

It is, for money that is. But not from flogging Everton the minute the builders turn the gas on in a new ground. The Liver building, the ground, the swathe of property to be built in between. Said it from day one.

If his mate chips up as well, jam in the cake.
