I can't imagine fans of any other club arguing in favour of the option of a smaller stadium. Tottenham's new ground will hold 62,000. Do you think any of the Spurs fans said "62,000 is too big. We need to go for 52,000 like Newcastle because we might end up with a few thousand empty seats."
Couple of Stadiums in Germany i like (see below). Really think we should look at them. The only thing i dont like it the exteriors on them. I just think ours should be part brick part metal, its in keeping with Bramley Moore Dock itself. Something like Celtic or Rangers from outside would be nice. An all metal look wouldnt be right in my opinion.
Some ideas i like are having a retractable pitch/roof, A museum in the stadium (would be cool to have a cinema room in it to watch videos on the club as part of a stadium tour), a massive fanzone/fanclub with a bar in the New Gwladys Street stand, a built in restaraunt open to the public, 3g pitches and building for events/projects next to the stadium for eitc and maybe a hotel attached similar to boltons stadium.
Stadium we should look at;
Schalke 04- http://www.stadiumguide.com/arenaaufschalke/
Borussia Dortmund- http://www.stadiumguide.com/westfalenstadion/
HSV Hamburg-http://www.stadiumguide.com/hamburgarena/
Whats everyones thoughts on them?
He’s a massive tit.Has anyone listened to the Echo podcast from last Friday? Gavin Buckland first says that we would possibly struggle to fill a 50k, then says we should keep the season ticket numbers down.

He doesn't have a clue.
He was trying to make out like we are minnows compared to Spurs in terms of fanbase, pointing to their 60K+ (I think it was that number) waiting list. Spurs and Everton have had a very similar number of fans turning up to home games over the years, and obviously at various times, both have been restricted by Capacity. We actually have had a higher average attendance post-war than Spurs, and at our lowest we fell to 19K crowds in the 80's (1984) and they fell to 20K (1986). Hardly points to them being out of our league. They were then selling out a 36K Capacity Stadium in the last 15 years which isn't that impressive either, and from 1990-95 only hit 30K on average once so clearly weren't at 100% of their Capacity. Unsurprisingly this is when Spurs weren't a top 4 side. At their peak in the 50's they were averaging 55K, and at ours in the 60's we were at 51K. Again, hardly suggests that we couldn't dare to compare ourselves to Spurs in terms of fanbase.
This opinion from him that Spurs' fanbase dwarfs ours is laughable.
The echo talking down Everton and Evertonians? I'm not having it
At least you didn't have the terrible hangovers most others had! Full of respect for you and all hard working doctors.I work bank holidays. This year was the first time in 8 years I haven't worked new years day
I heard the podcast and i agreed with the part where he said spurs have a London advantage ,and the fact that the demand is more for spurs games because many "tourists in London" want to have PL game experience and buy tickets . I also agreed with the corporate seats demand analysis and hence why Everton should not be compared to West ham and Spurs in that respect . But , listening to the podcast i felt like listening to a biased Spurs fan , as he was rating the spurs fanbase as high as Arsenal . and i remember he said spurs can fill upto 80K after some calculations he did . He surely didnot take into consideration the prices Spurs are planning to charge in the new stadium .
But the podcast wasnot so bad . Atleast that was a good discussion around the new stadium . I was looking for a good debate/discussion around the new stadium this week and this podcast , Blue room pod and the Toffee TV analysis were the only ones i found . Any other pointers ?
Agreed .Thought The Blueroom pod was quite refreshing, certainly a lot more positive in terms of talking us up without being too OTT about it.
Never heard of him.Has anyone listened to the Echo podcast from last Friday? Gavin Buckland first says that we would possibly struggle to fill a 50k, then says we should keep the season ticket numbers down.
Disagree Finners.
Fans are rightly passionate and should right to voice their opinion without being sneered at;
Keep seeing people sneer/brush off Evertonians as being audacious/cheeky to actually question an 'expert' - what nonsense.
On capacity he's regularly dangled a carrot of 60,000+
But now, we have Everton with their 99% of fans want a capacity of over 50,000 line followed by Meis downplaying capacity, and about him knowing what size is right for Everton (shouldn't that be dictated to him?!), with him accusing fans of having 'size envy' and pointing to West Ham who inherited a stadium.
The fanbase can't afford to be placid because of the novelty of having someone at the club engage with them on twitter, or because they want access to him for interview.
Urgh...
