New Everton Stadium

Exactly this, people are looking at 52k as if this is happening next season.

Come 5 seasons time:

1. Man City, West Ham will have increased capacity to over 60k

2. Clubs like Leicester and Wolves have talked about stadium expansion to around 50-55k

3. Chelsea will likely move stadium / expand stamford bridge

4. If Newcastle get a big takeover their owner very well could increase SJP

Come the opening of BMD we could be 9-10th biggest in the country.

Great post but you missed out the RS.

Their Anfield Road redevelopment will take them to 61,000 or thereabouts.

Anyone who seriously believes that the club intends to expand the stadium to 62,000 in 15 or 20 years' time is living in cloud cuckoo land.

We will be stuck with 52,000 forevermore. Let's just hope it's the best 52,000 stadium on the planet.

I hate to say it but you’re spot on.

This line that the club are spouting that we might be able to go up to 62,000 in the future is a sop to appease the fans.

Not that arsed about capacity as I will very seldom be visiting. As long as the stadium is iconic and does the club proud, that'll do. We won't be reaching any European finals in he near future, so no danger of our fan base exploding.

Amazing how so many in here are moaning that Moshiri is going to build a cheap estimated 52k* stadium on a World Heritage site in the heart of the city but won't buy an Everton Shirt unless a betting firm offers them a free shirt with a bet!

CHRIST we want OUR stadium not Liverpool's, West Ham's or Spurs' but the new home of Everton should be for us not an extra 10k "waiting list" who will in time be able to get a season ticket by the time our stadium is erected.

Right now 52k is too big, in 3 years it will be perfect and how knows in 10 years it maybe too small.

Let's finally build Everton's new home on the banks of the royal blue** mersey!

*Estimated this maybe bigger due to planning
**It's never Blue

52k is about right
The club say 10000 waiting list for st, that will be around 6 or 7000 that actually get one and an additional 5000 for general sale.

It's the right figure.

The money is in the corporate facilities but there isn't a massive demand for that here. People pay up to 1k a ticket at some clubs but no one will want to pay that here

And if/when England gets awarded the World Cup, which of the stadiums in this city will get awarded matches, the smaller stadium (ours) or the bigger one?

....I suspect we could have 100k capacity and the answer will be the same to that one. Saying that, much will depend on where we stand as a team at that point in time and the look and facilities of our new build.

In a new stadium that waiting list will probably grow to over 20,000.

If they look at it objectively they would opt for BMD as it would be a new stadium in a great location for a fan park. We would only be 3k behind them unless they expand further. I think we got this about right. I honestly don’t think we fill 60k. This way we should get a more intimate design
