New Everton Stadium

That would never work for us.

The one thing we've all demanded is atmospherics.

A roof 50ft higher than it needs to be would not be beneficial whatsoever

Plus the weather coming in off the mersey!

I'm not saying it is what we will do but it is a possible way of dealing with these situations. As for weatherproofing, as long as the back of the stand is covered to the roof it should be fine.

You are right that it is not great for atmosphere. But I wouldn't put it past us to lower the capacity to ensure the stadium is full, then have a massive gap between the roof and the stand. Everton that.

Didn't Dan Mies say there's no chance to expand in the future due to the site, once the stadium is built ... it's built. They were his words out his own mouth and that was less than 6 months ago.

Now all of a sudden we can build a 52k stadium with the option to increase to 62k? An extra 10k is near enough a whole new stand ... on a site which there no chance of expanding on not so long ago.

Just find it strange how he was adamant there was no chance of expanding on the site, but all of a sudden now there is

Because they'll always have an excuse as to why we can't expand to 62,000: We've not sold out every single game of the season or the economy is doing badly due to Brexit.

I would bet my life on us not going above 52,000.

@gorgeousgeorgeEFC is going to have an utter melt down

52k stadium

SMALLER THAN WHAM AND BARCODES!!

I started supporting Everton when we had a bigger and better stadium than Newcastle and West Ham, and even the RS. That's why I have/had higher expectations.

52,000 might not get us any Uefa finals and it won't make us as attractive as Anfield in terms of big music concerts but I suppose I will have to get behind it now.

An extension will never happen IMO. Once it's built the business case for more seats as opposed to more corporate space diminishes.

A ground by the River Mersey sounds pleasant in summer but for majority of the season will be an unwelcoming place - ask any docker.
Hopefully there are plenty of windbreakers strategically placed !

However we do need a better stadium.
I have plenty of reservations around car access. More fans will mean more cars Goodison is relatively easy to get away from - many people can't simply switch to public transport and growing attendances means more fans from outside the area will exacerbate parking problems. The recent transport survey emphasised area will have larger FMPZ. I think this may put as many off as it attracts for its location.

This is all still talk and whilst it's a necessary process I'll be less cynical once I walk out of it after the likes of Ellis Simms has knocked in a hat trick against the [Poor language removed] to clinch the Premier League

Even at 54 mate they'd expand to top ours before it was built. They wouldn't allow Everton to get ahead IMO.

Even if they had 70k to our 52k, in less than 10 years ours would be the most recognisable stadium in the city to an International audience.

They are going to be stuck in an incredibly depressed area (that they contributed to with their sly tactics) and will remain there for the foreseeable, probably forever.

Everton will leave Walton with our heads held high whilst maintaining strong community connections with the area.

An iconic stadium (I have no doubts at all the design will be instantly recognisable) on the banks of the Mersey, bookend a new real estate development that will transform the waterfront from the Northern Docks all the way to city centre.

As somebody said a few pages ago.... If you say Opera House, you think Sydney. Its not the biggest, its far from the best, but its known the world over.

Our design will be as spectacular and an excellent location that will see incredible transformation over the next 10/20 years.

There's been like an actual bajillion pages added to this thread today and I'm a bit lost as to where this all has come from? People mention 52k capacity (I saw that posted on the club's FB page) and something about an amazing design -- what design? Have I missed some concepts somewhere?

No design as yet

The club have just announced it will be 52k capacity with scope to go to 62k

We've all been debating the truths behind this and basically calling ourselves mediocre.
