New Everton Stadium

It's a cautious small time approach taken by uninspiring people. If you want to become a big club then you have to start acting like a big club.

52k isn't big enough. Anyone who thinks it is clearly hasn't paid attention the last 5 years. You always want room for growth too. You look forward and try to better yourself. This design is backward looking and trying to hold our position rather than move forward.

I think it's a let down. I think it's the wrong decision. We were planning on building a similar sized stadium in 2007/2008. No progression in a decade it seems. We will regret this.

Absolute rubbish this I’m afraid.

But mate think of der roaring atmosphere in a 52k... like at Watford

I really wanted Everton to build big. Something that really knocks the socks off many stadia. Something that can host European finals. Hopefully there's still time to revise this.

I think as fans, we get too bothered about how big it is in order to prove to outsiders the size of the club (i'm guilty of it myself). But just having a bigger capacity doesn't mean that equates to a better or more suitable ground. Look at the RS. We can mock them all we like for various things but they are arguably the 2nd biggest club in the country with a huge fanbase and their ground is only on a par with Newcastle, less than West Ham's. Does it matter really? Are more people in Football outside of us, more in awe of Anfield and the atmosphere it can generate and how much of its identity relates to their club, or West Ham and the London Stadium?

We could build a 58K Stadium and find that we have some empty seats for less glamorous games or a new type of fan that dilutes the kind of atmosphere we want. Obviously the atmosphere is poor at Goodison most of the time, but we still get the same type of fans going to our games as we pretty much always have and when the atmosphere gets going, it puts grounds like the Etihad to shame. With a 52K Capacity, we're still going to retain that. at 58-60K we'd be having to look for the more tourist type of fans to fill the seats and then there would be plenty of complaints on here about how the soul of the club has been ripped out and we've lost our identity.

Every time I go to the Etihad i'm disappointed in their ground - their atmosphere and the empty seats. I've not even bothered going to West Ham as it looks an awful experience for the matchgoing fan. However, looking at Spurs' design, it looks great and I will be looking forward to visiting. Spurs made sure they went for a design that suited them, which we look to be doing.

If the demand is there, then expansion can be looked at.

Site around that model looks to be the same layout as BMD... The two ends looks similar-ish size however. That wasn't in the original spec talked about. All single tier - unless that is a model of lower tiers only - design too. That also is different from earlier mockups. But it could also enable upper tiers to be added at a later date when needed.

It is not a football stadium (well could be american football) unless Meis is extremely bad at making scale models. Add to that we will not have one consistent lower tier (the end squashed up to the waste water plant sees to that) and it is easy to see it is nothing to do with us.
