New Everton Stadium

Not gonna lie, the amount of time this has taken and the number of promises made by the club that it’s truly going to be something special, etc… if we don’t get an iconic, one-of-a-kind stadium displayed to us on Friday than I am going to be sorely disappointed.

I don't care about 60,000 seats. That isn't going to make a big financial difference to Everton. Just give us something to be proud of.

If the club get this right I won't doubt them again.

Well isn't that sorta human nature? Otherwise we would all be attracted to the same body type, only want to buy a particular house and only like the same clothes. Its why the forum has so much bickering as soon as someone disagrees about something the same folk get all outraged when its really nothing to get eaten up about.

Regardless of how good/bad the stadium designs will be someone will like parts and others wont.

Why its such a hard job as very difficult to cater something to 10 people never mind 500,000+ however Evertonians there are.

If Meis manages that he's a magician.

Just hope its something completely unique - I think there will be references to GP/Leitch in the designs and some will love that whereas I wont and prefer GP as a one off with BMD being unique in its own right.
Hoping our new ground has an athletic frame with coltish legs, lovely eyebrows and an enigmatic smile.

I’m going to stick my neck on the line and predict people will moan about the designs. Bold, I know.

The thing people have to remember is that not only Meis has to deliver a stadium that can be built for around half of what prestige stadiums are being built for nowadays, but he is also hamstrung by the fact that the site is nowhere near optimal given the orientation that uses the relative much shorter width for the longest part of the stadium. There will always have to be compromises because of this.

As with anything it's all about expectations. If you wanted an apple and you are given a whole bowl of juicy ripe fruit, then likely your expectations have been exceeded. If it's vice versa then likely you will be disappointed.

Lest we forget we could have been playing in a 50k cattle shed outside the city limits had someone just stamped approved on an application form. If people are hoping for ours to match Spurs' ground they are asking a little bit too much imho, but if you are open to having something that is 5 times better than the Tescodome, in a far better location, then happiness awaits on Thursday evening.

If they have got the scaling right then it's a lot bigger area than you think.
Interestingly all of those stadiums are shown plotted West-East, considering ours will be North-South, and situated close to the riverside, it should mean that there will be a fairly substantial area of land between the entrance to the site and the stadium itself. Will be interestingly to see what the plans are for that space, a huge fan zone etc?

There will be a large fan zone to the east side mate, club shop etc.

Spot on. Also worth remembering when making comparisons with the new WHL stadium that there's not as much corporate money washing around Liverpool or demand for alternative uses as there is around London, which means it's not viable to spend anywhere near as much on it.
