New Everton Stadium

Mate, how many matches do you get to?

I think this subject is perhaps the only subject for Blues where frequency of attendance adds weight or not (depending upon answer) to one's argument.
I don't get to any matches. But I've been to matches in the past, both at GP and other events, and I refuse to believe that having a stadium in the waterfront would not cause a massive headache for matchday fans.

The discussions are well out the starting gate.
Thank God we had KEIOC around last time around to open everyone eyes.
People can ultimately have whatever opinion they want on whatever proposal ends up making it to the table.

And those opinions will differ wildly - no doubt about it.

However, I strongly suspect that if you're hoping for a waterfront stadium - with anything else being seen as a 'no go' then you're going to spend the next few years being a dissenting voice.....

Absolutely...realism dear boy just realism....

It will be the best option available not the best dream available

If we have to move then moving further into the city is the only option that shows any sort of ambition. We need to make ourselves more visible and more appealing to non-fans both for visiting the stadium as tourists and for using the corporate facilities for work purposes.
But everton cant just demand land from the council?, its all very well fans saying "they must do this" but if the council aren't offering the club the land then what else can they do?

The council is skint. We have a majority shareholder worth 2.3 billion who has a filofax with the best business contacts on the planet. Go figure, as they say in the US.

location must be the best for EFC and not a solution to other parties problems.

Absolutley ! Best for Everton Football Club, not best for one set of fans that favour one solution over another, or for Tesco, or for Treehuggers or anyone else who thinks they might have a say (even if they clearly don't).

I think a key point is that the situation has absolutley changed - we need to try and get past the cake and arse party that Bill and the old regime made of Kings Dock and Kirkby.

I'm prepared to give Mosh the benefit of the doubt - I firmly believe he is more equipped financialy and more importantly business and experience wise that the previoius regime. This isn't happening overnight and I'm sure we will find out what is happening when it is once again right for Everton Football Club, for us mere mortals to know!

Most of the land in the centre or the waterfront is already in private hands...Peel holdings springs to mind and they will simply tell Everton to do one if we are not part of their plans so council are not part of that equation.

Also we have a Billionaire on the board that does not mean we have a endless supply of money, im sure he didn't amass this wealth by burning through cash like it was going out of fashion as they say in the US.

Yes the city centre or waterfront would be great but if not then we would want a plot within the city to make our own and grow.... examples are the Trafford centre is not in the city centre in Manchester.

London has Oxford St which is the centre of London but most Londoners go to Westfield which is the West and or the East not the centre and both were built on considered derelict land not fit for anything

all I want is people to have a dose of realism

I know where you're coming from and I do agree with the sentiment.

However, what's best for EFC is ultimately - what's the best that EFC can afford - and a major factor in that, is obviously the land cost.

If there's no additional revenue generation reason for being closer to the City Centre and the land costs are a huge multiple of what a council backed scheme would cost slightly further out would be, then simple business common sense would drive the latter as the preferred option.

What would be best is transparency for the Everton community which is EFC.
Your going to hear me and others making the same point until we get that but every day that goes by without proposals being shared with the community makes me believe that back-room meetings are being held with the fan-base beeing informed after the deal is done.

If I did,nt know any better I would suspect operatives of the club whom monitor this website would be keen to manage the fan-base in one direction. The thing is it wont work....we are wise to the tactics pulled on DK.

Until we see the detail and the options I am not preprepared to accept that our options are limited, neither should we be hoodwinked or softened up for something that is not the sum of it,s parts.
