New Everton Stadium

People basing what capacity the stadium should be purely on today's Everton should take a look at our history in the current stadium. Attendances have ranged from 20k to almost 80k....proving that trends change.
Put simply...you put limits on a capacity then that may restrict you for future changes.
All this 'bigger club than us' talk is again just based on today...go back 25 years we were far bigger than most...go back 50 years, Leeds were massive... Nobody can predict where we'll be in the future... So plan for all eventualities I say...we may not get another chance this century

What people aren't taking into account with the historical crowds, is the lack of Tv coverage or streaming availability, the days when we had 80,000 there was no other option to view the game, personally I think 55,000 would be about right but I wouldn't expect it to be full for most games
Crowds in the fifties and less so in the sixties were massive when attending matches was a way of life rather than a lifestyle choice. Crowds in the seventies and eighties were sometimes pathetically low but picked up again when the Premier league "brand" was launched. Whether we like it or not, this has pushed up average attendances in the Premier League every year for the last 24 years. Interestingly, it has also lifted Championship attendances (making the Championship the league with the fourth highest attendances in Europe, after the PL, Bunesdliga and La Liga).
I think that 60,000 should be our aim for a new or redeveloped stadium.

Aside from the STHs, it would be interesting to get an idea of our true match-going population. How many are once-a-season trippers from outside the NW or from overseas? How many attend 5+ games a season? How many would genuinely consider buying an ST, and why don't they currently?

I just think the idea that the only thing stopping 60k attending each week is that we don't have 60k seats is rather blinkered.

Too many obstructed views mate

50,000-55,000 has always struck me as being about right for us. Bear in mind that Juventus have a 41,000 capacity and the average Bundesliga capacity is about 50,000. As long as there's a bigger footprint for potential expansion if/when we required it based on success, that'd be easily sufficient.

Of course, we await information from the Persian on this....information that should - in broad brush strokes - have been out there already.

55k with the possibility of expanding? why is everyone still debating this about 2 weeks on? Most stadiums are built with a view to expanding at the moment.

55K sounds about right providing we get a top quality build instead of some cheap flatpack

Has there been anything concrete in terms of news yet regarding sites then ?

Surely we are looking to the future, a brighter future, build a stadium which reflects this. Col the additional space with schemes to bring in the future supporters. In vest in the future not in the present.

From my desk at work I can see the Liverpool skyline and that huge construction site across the park, it's depressing.

Why can't we finally progress either way rather than dithering.

Build it for 60k+. And it must be bigger than Anfield.

We need a top stadium that will accommodate massive crowds paying very reasonable
entrance fees watching a top team. That is the assumption the club should be working on.

The elasticity of demand at EFC is wider than most. I am convinced that if prices were more reasonable we could get thousands more. Current prices, even if they are cheaper than most, are still too high for loadsa people who have families and are just getting by. Merseyside will probably continue to have lower wages/income than most other places and that fact should be included in the thinking.

On an aside, I hope Goodison gets redeveloped, Goodison Road becomes a massive standing area, and the Park End capacity becomes like that at the Holt End/ Gallaway Road Stand.
