New Everton Stadium

Well who will pay for it toffeeslam?? Money can't just magically appear.

The funding was majoritivly going to be given by usm holdings (a Russian company). If that company is sanctioned and can't provide the money then noone else will be able to. Are we just going to find some random saviour who wants to take on a club who can't buy many players because of ffp. Are stuck in the relegation zone and have a £300 million odd owed to moshiri as well as £500 million to pay for a stadium.

Unless if I'm missing something? Is this not the kind of trouble we are in?

The Majority of the money was not going to be paid by USM, I'm not sure where you've got that information from.

Why is everybody assuming that the stadium is going to be paid for by 1 investor/group/company?

I mean this would be one of the most ‘Everton that’ things to ever happen wouldn’t it.

Yes deffo to be the only team to suffer would be. But end of the day with hundreds and thousands of people needlessly dying, that's the least of our problems. We can still count ourselves lucky it's not us that's being killed, it's only football after all.

Well, that's just not true. Care to explain how you've reached that conclusion?

They were (still possibly are) gonna pay sponsorship for naming rights.

Naming rights are not some loophole invented by USM. It's a legitimate practice, and other sponsors are no doubt available.

In fact, they've paid us for first refusal on the naming rights. I'm not sure they'd have a leg to stand on trying to get that money back, should they wish to try.

Make no mistake, if USM can't take up the option for naming rights, we'll find another company who will.

Some sad people on here pushing their own ‘ego’ and trying for once to be proved right if the build goes wrong.
This is happening and will be completed, too much has already been sunk (pardon the pun) into the dock for it not to happen.
I’m sure those people who made billions in the past will find away to drop cash through the Caymans or somewhere to pay the next instalment on the build.
Would posters on here feel smug if they put those people currently on-site out of work?

What other clubs have stadium sponsorship and what seems to be the going rate? obviously it will change with the size of the club etc... but I was under the impression it wasn't huge figures.

I don't think anyone is assuming anything other than those thinking the loss of USM will be of no consequence to this project. The fact that we still don't know the nuts and bolts of the financial mechanism for paying for this stadium (even at this stage) should be at least slightly concerning.

USM paid an astronomical (unprecedented) amount just for first dibs on naming rights. That was essentially just to break the inertia of the calamitous financial rut that was holding the project up in the first place. Mosh then had to stump up £100m just for site preps. (Is that the £100m now converted to equity, thus also going onto the bill of any future sale?). So to say that this sponsorship would not be a major part of the financial package going forward is probably quite fanciful. It may indeed be the key lever to securing the loans because l'm not sure how our normal or even projected operating finances can stretch to that.

As regards attracting alternative naming rites to meet that Shortfall..... who? Spurs have yet to attract a deal for their larger and higher quality stadium, that is already built, full of high-end corporate in one of the richest cities in the world.

Funnily enough, Spurs have been at their new stadium, the best in the country by a mile, and still don't have a naming rights deal yet. I am pretty sure they would like one, so am wondering why it hasn't happened yet!

What is worrying is a new stadium curse, historically teams will play worse at a new ground after a big move.

Has any team actually benefited from a new stadium in terms of league position in their first few seasons.

Arsenal struggled, Spurs did, remember West Ham losing a lot of their early games.

It's worrying. I will miss the glory years of Martinez's sideways passing, Big Sam, the Dutchman and those long unbeaten home runs at Goodison in the last few years, and our top 11 finishes, boss days, ;)

Yeah they're not huge figures. Not in football terms anyway.

But nobody ever claimed that's how the stadium was gonna be financed.

Will naming rights be used as part of a repayment plan? Almost certainly, but they won't be financing the stadium. The poster seemed to be under the impression that USM were exclusively financing the build.

sick of this ridiculous saying
I don't really get why any Evertonian would use it.

No wonder we're laughed at. Bunch of Eeyores basically believing we Only seem to lurch from one calamity to the next.
