New Everton Stadium

I’d be amazed if that happened , most materials for building have risen by about 15/ 20% in the last year . The stadium won’t be a fixed cost as contractors won’t work like that . If it gets built then it’s more than likely going to be cutbacks on certain aspects of the build . The £500 million often quoted will probably be north of £600 now and that’s without anything out the ground yet .

I’m sure the people in charge of our club would have planned for such contingencies.. then I remembered.. it’s Everton.

What if we don't go down? What if we do and come straight back up? What about the hundreds of millions we've already spent on it? Doesn't a new stadium make us more attractive to new owners and therefore makes it easier for Moshiri to sell the club if he wants to? What about the next 100 years of Everton FC when we are playing there?
Good point. Plus Goodison likely won’t get its safety certificate in a couple of years.

I have huge concerns about our finances if we go down. This is the worst time. Saying its the best time makes no sense

Goodison is the only good thing we have and its about to go. There is nothing to celebrate in leaving Goodison
Goodison has great history. The only stadium in the UK outside Wembley to host a World Cup semi-final etc. First stadium to have four two-tiered stands etc. But it’s an embarrassment now. There isn’t a stadium like it in the Prem.

Serious question. I'm not being sarcastic here. If the new stadium is not going ahead then why are they still working on it? Surely, if the money just wasn't there work would have come to a sudden stop? What purpose would there be on spending even a penny more on something that wasn't going to be finished? Just asking.
The stadium will be built, however let’s answer your question.

The dock has been filled and the land prepared for building. If the stadium did not go ahead that land is now worth considerably more than it was as it is pre prepared for almost any building work to be made on it. There’s a point of course where continuing could decrease the value as you are using materials, paying labour and reducing the options that a potential developer could make.

But I repeat, the stadium in my opinion will go ahead.

He's having a pop at people (like me) wanting the club to be have been more ambitious, from the desperate point of view of us struggling and maybe going down. I prefer to wish the best for our club so when we're at BMD 52,888 is going to be sold out every week and isn't going to be enough.

Look at Newcastle desperately trying to look at ways of increasing their 52k ground.

Only complaint with BMD is 52k is just not big enough.

That's exactly how many large construction projects are priced. Its termed GMP, Guaranteed Maximum Price.

It will have the ability to have an increased capacity by utilising rail seating. At its full potential, it will be able to add at a ration of 1.8/1, and will only not be possible to do that if regulations don't allow. Majority of other grounds utilising rail seating can only do so at a ration of approx 0.9/1. Reducing their capacity by 1 person for every 10 standing.

I get that. A dock filled in with sand is worth a hell of a lot more than a load of water but why are they still carrying on now if it's not going to be finished?
