New Everton Stadium

Thanks Tom, interesting as always.

So one thing we have then is the rail seats in the front half. Considering that you only have 1 or 2 blocks who take up the responsibility of regular singing, which is lead by a smaller number within that, I think we are looking at fans chanting into an open space.

I know there's evidence that says that singing at the front is louder than singing at the back, but I reckon that's based on 50% crowd participation in that stand.

The reality is not like that, it's more like 5% of a stand.

This is why I have suspected that the design lends itself to an Ultra lead singing area rather than our traditional way of a small group of fans trying to get songs to spread.

For me, they need a section of rail seats at the very back, maybe even in the corner where as you say they have acoustic enhancing effects.

Celtics safe standing is in the corner.

As I now like my creature comfort’s I’ll be sitting halfway line with all the comfy stuff right next to me. My son 18 is not having it though he wants to be in action part of crowd, are most people on here wanting the gwlady style part or want to be a snob like me?

Ideally I'll be on the bench and telling Frank what subs to make on a game by game basis.

Yes, the roof is very high above the stand, which is of quite a steep rake too. This of course also means that the rows of fans fall further away from that reflective surface quite quickly. Therefore only a relatively small proportion get any great acoustic effect, with the bulk of the stand essentially shouting out into open space. If that proportion is high enough, it will allow chants to propogate effectively, but it doesn't really look that way in cross sectional views. Wembley suffers similarly.

The arched roof and cranked corner sections will however have some acoustic enhancing effects but not sure how much. The large end stand at Spurs has some similar deficiencies, but is deeper and bigger capacity. The South Tribune at Dortmund should've probably been the ideal benchmark. This has a slightly downward pointing roof with a small apex towards the rear, which pools much of the noise and allows chants to spread across the whole stand, encouraging the whole end to join in and project it out onto the pitch. I think the design proposed for WHP actually was better in this respect.... with a larger home end and better roof angle.

The initial BMD stadium was east-west and also had a bigger home end. The current BMD home end is 60 rows I think.... which is only approx 2 rows more than the Gwladys upper and lower combined. Of course it will have greater unity as a single tier, but it's not the mega-home end originally promised.
Wow makes me feel like what's the point now ?... We we're told it's going to be like a blue wave of noise

I'll be in the snobs seats with you bro, although I have a got a ticket in the street end for the last game of the season and really looking forward to it, not been in lower Gwladys since it was made all seater

My son and even my daughter are leaning to be near the away fans(which I understand) but would be weird having them sat somewhere else, I wouldn’t have any to moan to throughout the match?

Nothing to do with snobbery. Side of pitch (particularly elevated) gives the best view of the pitch.

I'll never pay for a home ticket behind the goal again.
