New Everton Stadium

The only people rubbing their hands at the thought of Stonebridge or Stonedale if it's the location just off the M57 will be the local residents across the East Lancs Rd at the thought of all those shiny cars being parked up for 3 hours every fortnight!
If they build here then I won't be going again, been going home and away since we won the league in 1970.
Solution:
Rip up Goodison, buy one street on each side (Goodison, Bullens and Gwladys), rebuild 50k seater (safe standing for 10k at Gwladys St End), put a retractable roof on and then see how intimidating it will be for opposing teams and a great atmosphere for Evertonians and the team.
And if you're wondering where we play home games whilst the new stadium is built then quite simply looking at this seasons performances we might as well opt to play all 38 games away for a couple of seasons.

WHP more complicated - greenfield site which the Council would have taken a huge hit on in terms of political pressure. Plus not a free site I don't think.
Brownfield sites much less controversial, and much cheaper to obtain the land before you even get as far as a spade in the ground.

As I understand it, the stadium was to be built on the area occupied by the leisure centre - this means it would not be classified as a greenfield site, as it already has a built form.

Wont that take years taking up streets around Goodison ??

How do you mean mate?

Forget the waterfront.

Peel holdings won't entertain the idea, and even if they did, them grasping bleeders'd fleece us for rent.

Any chance someone could juxtapose the GP footprint into the Collins playing fields?

Peel aren't looking for rental costs, they are selling the land for people to build on at their own cost so long as it fits within their vision. Peel will not have a lasting ownership of Liverpool Waters. They will be making money on the increasing value of land as the project continues. If they feel a stadium will increase land value and increase investment interest, and it can pass numerous other obstacles, then they'll be open to listening to proposals. There was in fact a stadium included in the VERY early masterplanning process of Liverpool Waters.

Waterfront or redevelop Goodison for me. Tin pot stadium by a motorway or stuck in a park will not put us back on the ascendency. If we could claim a waterfront spot we could leave Liverpool to waste in the park whilst every photo of the Liverpool waterfront had our crest on it, every cruise tourist would go on a stadium tour, every day tripper would see the stadium, every corporate event would want to be hosted there. Huge opportunity to put Liverpool in our shadow long term.

"I think there is a real acceptance by them and I'm pretty confident that within three years there will be a new stadium for Everton football club in Liverpool."

Why would he say this? That's an awfully short period of time to build a stadium.

Maybe he knows that other plans are developing rapidly but cant talk about it more specifically
