For me I'd like a stadium like Dortmund's, stands that are joined together rather than a bowl shapeDon't like the 4 stands stadium concepts as i think its tired and dated, also not seen a genuine world class stadium with the traditional 4 stands but that's my opinion as loads on here will agree or disagree
if the bowl shape i.e corners filed in is done properly why are spectators further from the pitch as some have mentioned ?
most world class stadiums conform to a variation of that shape as its the most efficient use of space capacity wise for a stadium. Especially if you have a limited foot print
Replying to myself here, but this is the old Munster at Trafalgar about 1981 (it was replaced by a bigger and much nicer Leinster around 1983). We had some pretty rough sailings on this little lady but the bar always stayed open until about 1.30 a.m. and we would then get a few hours kip before arriving at Trafalgar around 7.30 a.m.
Slightly off topic maybe but I thought you might like to see Trafalgar dock when it was in use.
Is the building with the chimneys still there or is the whole area flattened and ready for development?

That is a class 4 stand stadium.

4 stands with corners filled in, not a shaped bowl. Dortmunds stadium: It has a league capacity of 81,359 (standing and seated) and an international capacity of 65,829 (seated only). Cologne's stadium (top) holds 50k, 8k standing.
It can be done fine.

The Allianz proves a bowl can be okay, but you don't get the same feel as a four-standed stadium. I like where I sit in the upper bullens because you feel on top of the pitch.
Just for fun, the Westfallenstadion, fits nicely into the SC site, this is a ground hat would be too big for us so it proves there is space, it's a very tight squeeze on the docks if it all... However a smaller 55k/60k version of it would probably fit.

Looks very awkward for access and parking, no trains nearby either, does not work for me in any way.
i see what you're saying Doesn't the corners filled in constitute a bowl shape or a variation on that ?
Thing is most of the traditional four stand designs grew organically and tend not to be new builds and Dortmunds stadium us an example of that.
All i am saying is that the bowl/corners filled is the most efficient use if a foot print and generally gives you more bang for your buck.
Anyway with the money we have now im sure it will be something we will all be proud off
well most anywayi just hope there is a really cool home end
That's a 80k stadium mate, not a 50-60k, imagine it being smaller.
Just make it a little smaller in paint and it'll fit easy.Looks very awkward for access and parking, no trains nearby either, does not work for me in any way.

Is it not possible to build a bowl-shaped arena, but still has the overhanging upper tier?![]()
