New Everton Stadium

After a while you get fed up with some ex Everton pros. They're so negative. Least the kopites ninths media, senseless as they are, back the club to the hilt. Half of our former players seem to just want to not rock the boat and keep us mediocre. Hopefully Moshiri iaignoringvthe noise and is doing what is best for Everton.

Remember. Rats.

Has been drip fed the last 15 years of mediocrity under "zero pennies in" Bill Kenwright as the rest of us.

That's right with Big Nev: Aim for number 1 every time

Ratcliffe: we'll never get there.

See the difference, both men deserve the highest respect for what they've done in their careers.

But Ratcliffe is consistently negative in all articles, even when he was commentating on channel 5.

The other thing.

Rats has actually been in football management. He has had some very difficult jobs (Chester, Shrewsbury) which has in addition to my previous comments re: Kenwright. Seemingly clouded his views.

Let's not turn on him as his negative viewpoint on the world is understandable.

We're not the only ones who've noticed.

In fairness, Rats is perfectly entitled to his opinion negative, positive or otherwise.

What is galling I think is that for whatever reasons, he does always seem to come across as on the negative side and maybe the media should take some responsibility for keep giving him the avenue to speak in such terms.
Maybe they need to ask the questions in such as a way as to 'steer' him towards a more positive outlook.

As others have said, Big Nev might be a bit of a loose cannon at times, but he only wants the best for Everton - not just competing, not just the top four, Nev wants us back at Number One.

Investing heavily into Everton, and with transfer budgets suggested at £100 million, a new stadium agenda and revamping the commercial side of the club, Mr.Moshiri won't just want us competing, he will want us winning, and regularly.

As indicated. He's not just negative in relation to Everton.

He's negative in relation to everything.

Let's not make more of it than it is.

My two pence worth.

I have had misgivings about Liverpool waters for a while. We are talking skyscrapers and I presume it would be a mix of offices and flats. Despite getting planning permission ages ago, nothing has come to pass.

The project would cost millions, perhaps billions. I am not sure there is the demand for offices and flats in effectively the Vauxhall area.

There are already modern offices in the heart of the business district, sat empty. 4 St Pauls Square, just of Old Hall Street was largely empty when I started working in the city 3 years ago. It still is. Some of the older offices are absolutely empty. You need business to occupy new offices and at the moment I don't think the numbers are there to justify the scale of the development Peel are talking about.

With regards to the location, Clarence Graving Dock, it is out of town. If you are a business you won't get the benefits of being a city centre location, eg train stations.

With regards to flats, I'm not sure the demand is there with regards to location or numbers.

As such, I think Peel should look to do a deal with Everton. It could be a catalyst for growth.

This all day long. I think sometimes our class of '85 can appear negative to younger fans, when in fact they simply have high standards - standards that a lot of us seems to have forgotten we should adhere to and aim for. It's good to want to win stuff.

For example, I agree with big Nev when he thinks we should aim for #1 EVERY SINGLE YEAR! Anything less is substandard. People say he's nuts - I think he's spot on.

Why aim for 4th when you can aim for 1st?

OI! Swear filter avoidance and that, but otherwise a good song aye. Interesting about a ferry terminal though.
Realism is also needed.
Every player wants to be Messi , but they can't.
Every club would love to have the resources of City, Chelsea or Utd , but they haven't.
Without having huge resources available then 4th is the new 1st.
When we can sign a player for 60m then I will be expecting to be no. 1.

Some people have a tendency to look on the cynical side. Who can blame him after years of dashed hopes?

Aim for the Bullseye and you'll always hit the board. That has been Everton's mindset the last 20 years. I can understand why some set the expectations low because then your never disappointed but Big Nev has the right idea and after Leicesters season there's no reason why we, or any team can't go into next season aiming for top spot.

Yep. Remember that Canary Wharf was just a desolate wasteland a few decades ago.

People don't actually realise that peel have started things with the scheme. People automatically assume that because there's no building work going on then things aren't happening. They're looking at foreign investment and have held many a conference for the Asia markets, and according to people within the group the take up is potentially there.

From the offset they've said this development of the area is a 40 year project, not an overnight thing. They're planning for down the line and it's all based on the Atlantic gateway scheme, making the north west a hub for imports which will attract business to the area. The entire Liverpool waters scheme, from the 3 graces down has been given an enterprise zone listing which has benefits for the developers and businesses.

The major issue for putting a stadium down there is traffic management, especially with L2 coming online pretty soon. The port has aurorae systems now, when they go down the group implement a procedure called "operation stack" whereby all the trucks are lined from along regent road, from the strand road entrance, all the way towards town. L2 is destined to become 24/7 port. If you had match day footfall coupled with a failure at the dock and operation stack was authorised it could be an absolute nightmare down there.

There is a lot more to consider than the basics of the perfect location, if talks progress and solutions are identified it'll be great for us. Personally I can't see it happening, and I've had this opinion for a long time due to certain things I'm informed. I hope I'm wrong, nothing better than a cruise ship passing our beloved home.

Time will tell, buy I'm probably less optimistic than most about this
